A sicko they tried to turn into a folk hero in western NY . had like 4 days to go and escaped from jail. People were making T-shirts supporting him and leaving the keys in their cars for him to run and hide.

Right up until he started to just kill police from behind in ambush style killings I think 3 maybe 4. Then they started to arrest the people for aiding and they all smartened up.

Now maybe some people can rest a bit easier.

We have this all over my city (see the Wire on HBO ) but we know it's here and watch out for it. Bucky was not the norm up there and was reaking havic.

This is all I have read on him I'm not quoting or saying it's factual Just what I read and understand it to be.

Bucky Philips was named to the FBI's 10 most wanted list today. He was in jail for a parole violation. (Jailed in western New York) He escaped with about 9 days left in his sentance and has been on the run for 5 months. He has shot 3 NY state troopers, 1 of those died, 1 is recovering and 1 is in critical condition.

You were pretty close. He shot 1 trooper soon after he escaped, He shot the other 2 a few days ago. They were watching his girlfriends house since they had been known to be helping him. He shot them from behind. One of his "friends" let him stay at his house for 11 days! I hope all those that helped him are arrested as accesories to murder.

It was pretty disgusting in the Southern Tier area. People had signs out saying Run Bucky Run and they were selling Bucky Burgers in diners. Of course once they so what he was really like that all changed.

We've been watching TV all night. I am so relieved that he is caught, and that no one else was hurt.

Do you want to know why I think he was turned into a Folk Hero? Honestly? I think it's because he is always refered to as Ralph "Bucky" Phillips. He turned into almost a cartoon character; a joke. It wasn't until a trooper that he shot DIED that people started getting serious.

I'm amazed that he came out with his arms up. I was positive it was going to become a "suicide by cop" situation.

Just wanted to add that everyone I know here (in Western New York) was totally disgusted by him from the beginning and disgusted by those (hopefully few) people in the southern part of WNY who thought all of this was a joke. It was definitely wasn't in any way the whole region supporting him and I agree with the other poster - I hope everyone who did help him out goes down!

Yes, it was only a few that were supporting him and they probably were those that knew him before all this started.

I also thought he would come out with a weapon drawn hoping to get taken out by the troopers. We were actually taking at work about how we would most likely accidently sneeze and the gun would discharge and hit him. Obviously the NY State troopers are much more professional than we are (me and my co-workers)

I was positive it was going to become a "suicide by cop" situation.

Too bad it wasn't. Now the taxpayers will be stuck paying for his trial, his defense, and his sorry butt to rot in jail getting three squares and free cable for the rest of his life.

maybe he can escape again and they can shoot the coward down at that time. This guy from all reports has been in trouble for one thing or another most of his life. Now that he has shot and killed a state police officer I don't think we should show him any mercy. Killing a police officer should be an automatice death penalty in my book.

And it used to be one of the only things that qualified for it here in NY. But unfortunately that law got overturned on a technicality a couple of years back. Best we can hope for now is life w/o parole.

I am relieved that people can get back to normal, what with the schools on lockdown and so on.

Many of us are totally relieved this is over. Somehow part of me wanted a different ending with him having to be carried out feet first. I have no sympathy for murderers. I am glad that no other innocents or troopers were injured or killed.

As for his friends and family who aided him, I hope they are charged with accessory to murder. If they did not help him he would not have been able to shoot the troopers last week. He would have been caught long ago.

Poochie, I am mystified. I don't know much about this case and that fact befuddled me.
