Orlando Sentinel confirmed today that Bubba Gump's is opening next year at Citywalk, in the old Motown Cafe/Decades building. (For those who don't know, this is a resturant heavily themed to the movie Forrest Gump.)

I have mixed emotions on this. Bubba Gump's is hardly unique--in fact, there's already one in central Florida (Daytona Beach). And I doubt there will be any sort of entertainment, tho I could be wrong. That said, it is family-friendly, which Citywalk sorely needs. And I suppose it fits the movie theme of Universal Studios.

Did the paper mention when?? Early? Late? Summer? Spring? Fall? ....any mention of a "due date"? :confused3

No exact date, but does say next spring.

That'd be great....I think? We're going the end of June.....I think I'll wait to hear reviews from DISer's before we go! Hoping it's going to be a "good" place..... :goodvibes

We went to a Bubba Gumps in Miami when my DH & I visited Key Biscayne last year. I felt it was overpriced and overhyped. Nothing to write home about :(

My DH took me there for my birthday on the 21st of august actual birthday is the 23rd. We have one at Navy Pier in chicago, love it!

I dunno, those restaurants on the 2nd level are out of the way, almost hidden if you ask me.
The other thing, is most people who have seafood at a restaurant in the park say it's just ok. I mean, think about how many people are served. I think it would be hard for a park restaurant to "wow" people when it comes to seafood. But good luck to them. Maybe the "new" factor will help.

Whew! Glad I don't like seafood! ;)

I know that most of us go to Universal for our kids (thats what we say, anyway). When I asked my kids where they wanted to take their Mother for Mother's Day lunch they chose Bubba Gump's at Bayside in Miami.

While the bulk of the restaurant will be on the 2d level, I assume it will also have an entrance on the first level, just as you enter Universal. They closed down the arcade that was there, so Bubba Gump's probably gets the entire building.

Only been to the one in Daytona Beach--found the food decent, not great, and very overpriced for the area. As I mentioned before, tho, it is family-friendly, which is more than you can say about a lot of Citywalk restaurants. I'm sure this was a consideration--give people with kids another place to stop for dinner after they leave the parks.

I ate at the Bubba Gump's at the Mall of America once and it was excellent food and reasonable prices. Maybe you just went on an off day.
