BTW--You Scream Like A Girl! My First Trip Report

I met up with the rest of the gang on the Future World side of EPCOT and we went back to innovations. There, Samuel and I designed another roller coaster and this time, he added a loop. He’s convinced now that he is a roller coaster guy. We’ll see. He said his ride on the simulator was awesome and he gave us a thumbs up just before he got out of the pod.

We went back to the land and rode the Living With the Land ride and then came back to Pop Century for supper. Vince got a burger with BBQ sauce & fried onions with fries, a pomegranate drink and the yogurt parfait. He was greatly impressed by the burger and kept saying how good it was.

I got the Mom’s Night Out Meatloaf with mashed potatoes (I love Disney’s mashed potatoes). I also got a bottle of Fuze and the deluxe brownie with M&M’s and marshmallows on top. I really enjoyed this dish. The potatoes were awesome as usual and the meatloaf was moist and had lots of flavour. I didn’t want a whole lot of gravy so I asked if I could have just a little bit on top of the meatloaf. It was the perfect amount. The beans also were tender crisp and really tasty.

This meal also came with a piece of corn bread, which Samuel ate. He got a popcorn snack at EPCOT before we left the park and didn’t want to eat supper so we didn’t order anything for him. We’ve had to help him eat most of his meals so far. He has actually eaten little this week. We are considering cancelling our ‘Ohana reservation for Saturday because we don’t want to have to pay that amount for a meal he probably isn’t going to eat. I was so excited to get our 6:35 reservation just 7 weeks out and now I can’t believe I’m likely going to cancel. Besides the money, we would have three QS credits available because we wouldn’t be using them the night of the reservation and we already have a few extra credits that we have to try and use up because he hasn’t been using most of his. We’re already eating waaaayyy too much food as it is.

After supper – which was over around 7:30, Vince went back to the room. I watched Sam in the pool while I ate my brownie, which was disappointing. It was very chewy but dry and stale. I forced about half of it down and threw the rest away. I don’t think I’ve ever thrown a brownie away before but I really wasn’t enjoying this one and thought that it really wasn’t worth it. After about an hour in the pool, we went back to the room got Samuel into the shower then watched some TV for a bit, got ready for the next day and went to bed. It doesn’t look like I made note of how many steps I put on my pedometer today but I do remember walking around the bus stop while waiting for the bus trying to get from 17,600 up to 20,000 so I probably ended the day with around 20,300-ish steps. We’re spending the day at Magic Kingdom tomorrow.

My apologies for making you wait so long between posts. I see that this thread is now on the 4th page of the Trip Report section of the board so I guess it's time for an update.

Before we boarded the bus to Magic Kingdom today, we stopped at the Food Court hoping Samuel would eat something for breakfast. Fortunately, he ate 3 pancakes, some bacon and a hot chocolate. In the picture, I know, they look a little disgusting because they were cold when he put more butter on them. I had stopped at the Concierge for a few minutes and didn’t get a picture of them while they were still warm. I ate his 4th pancake, which I really enjoyed. Vince and I split a breakfast platter. There was a lot of food on that plate and it was all really great – hot, tasty, fresh and well cooked. He ate the bacon --I dont eat bacon because I can’t eat that much animal fat. No picture; sorry!

Now for the reason I was at the Concierge -- I CANCELLED ‘OHANA! Who in their right mind cancels a 6:35pm reservation that they managed to get just 7 weeks out at ‘Ohana? I still can’t believe that. STILL!!! It did, however, make that most sense. Sam isn’t eating, it would be like throwing away $50 and we would have trouble eating those extra 3 QS credits. You gotta do what you gotta do, I suppose. I told myself that I had just made someone else’s day by making that reservation available but it didn’t help one bit!

We got to the park around 9:05. Main Street is not too busy yet as you can see from the pictures.

The first thing we did (first thing we always do at MK!) was take a few spins on the Buzz Lightyear ride. I don’t remember now how many times we rode it this morning but it wasn’t very busy. I took a few pictures on the way over to Tomorrow Land.

Afterwards, Vince thought he needed a snack and decided on a Cinnamon Roll from the Main Street Bakery. He wanted to split one. We usually get one of these when we come here but last year I found that the one we got was a bit dry and actually had no intention of getting one this year but rather then say anything, I just let him eat most of it. It was so big; it was almost like eating a whole loaf of bread. I think it was our biggest one yet! It was good. It was also warm and gooey from all the icing but I still found it to be a bit dry. The best one I’ve ever had was on our first visit back in 2007.

After our snack, we did Haunted Mansion. I loved the eyes on the wallpaper and Samuel thought the head in a ball over a table looked like Katie Perry. Next we went to Splash Mountain and then on to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad for my first roller coaster ride at Disney. Okay, I’ve done the Barnstormer but I’m talking adult roller coasters now! It wasn’t too bad, actually. A little scary at one point and jerky but no big drops or loops so I was fine. A migraine was what I was worried about. About half way through the ride Sam announced that he was going again. I was surprised that he came with me this time but I guess the Sum of all Thrills attraction cured him of his fear after all. He was screaming a very high pitched scream the whole way through and that’s where I got my trip report title. I turned to him and yelled, “…and by the way, you scream like a girl!” When we got off, he got three FP’s and then we headed over to Casey’s for a hot dog. We stopped for some pictures on the way.

Samuel got just a plain hot dog but his meal also came with fries, a drink and a big bag of cotton candy. He actually ate his lunch today needing only a little help with his fries. He picked away at the cotton candy during the rest of the day.

I got the chilli cheese hot dog. It also came with fries and a drink. I got the brownie with my meal. The hot dog was very good but the bun was much bigger than it need to be. There were a couple of bites of bread on each end of the wiener. The chilli was very good, not spicy at all and the cheese added a nice flavour especially when it melted. The fries were excellent as well. DH went to Peco’s Bill for his lunch. This is the first time we’ve eaten here. While the food was very good, the service was exceptionally s-l-o-w. It took FOREVER to receive our order. People who had ordered after we did were getting their food. We actually received really good service from all of the restaurants we ate at this trip except for here. We’ll come back because we enjoyed the food but also because I’m sure that this is not typical for Casey’s.

After lunch, we went over to use Samuel’s FP’s for BTMRR. The Stand By line was 20 minutes and he had 10 minutes to wait before they would let him use his FP so he got into the Stand By line thinking he might be able to work in an extra ride before he used up all of the FP’s. While we were waiting for him, Vince went over to Peco’s Bill for his lunch and got an order of chilli cheese fries (no picture). As he was eating them on the way over to join me, he realized he had forgotten to stop at the toppings bar and put the cheese on them. He enjoyed them anyway.

While I was waiting for DS, I ate my brownie from Casey’s. At first, just looking at it through the package, I was expecting something similar to a Little Debbie brownie but was very pleasantly surprised. It was fresh, fudgy, chocolaty, chewy and decadent!

After Sam’s third ride on BTMRR, we went over to Adventure Land, did Pirates of the Caribbean, got Fast Passes for the Jungle Cruise and then got a pineapple Dole whip float from Aloha Island.

Next we did the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. Then DH took DS on the Magic Carpets of Aladdin ride. While I waited for them, I went back up the treehouse and counted the steps on my pedometer. There are about 344 steps from the entrance, all the way up to the top and back down to the exit.

Our Jungle Cruise was relaxing but the weather was extremely humid. The fumes from the boats were also pretty strong. The cruise director was funny but since the sound system is not state-of-the-art, she was sometimes difficult to make out. Samuel was wearing his birthday button and when she saw it, she sang him a short song.

Next was another trip to the Parlour Ice Cream restaurant for their All American Ice Cream Sundae, which Samuel practically inhaled. Figures doesn’t it? AFTER I cancel ‘Ohana, he decides to start eating! This sundae has peanut butter in it. Vanilla ice cream, Chocolate ice cream, hot fudge sauce, peanut butter sauce, whipped cream and a cherry! All for just 1 little old snack credit. YUMMMMM!

From here, we went back to Tomorrow Land and did Buzz a couple times and got on the People Mover for a bit. After one more ride on Buzz, we decided to go to Down Town Disney for supper. We took the monorail to the Contemporary Resort and waited and waited and waited for the DTD bus. Eventually, we just decided to walked back over to MK and eat at Peco’s Bill. Once there, Vince finally got to have his Deluxe Hamburger. This came with fries, a drink and a huge onion ring on the burger. He really enjoyed his burger and I’m pretty sure he’ll get another one the next time were at Disney. We both got the chocolate cakes for dessert. I got the taco salad again. The salsa was a little tangy this time but I only took a little bit. I remembered to put the cheese between the hamburger layer and the onion layer so that it would melt! This is so good! Samuel just nibbled on the fries and my taco bowl. I guess his eating has slowed down again.

As I was assembling my salad, I saw someone with one of the oval plates making herself a large salad from the toppings bar. I don’t recall seeing that item on the menu….

Right after dinner, we all rode Splash Mountain again. It was a little too soon after eating for me but we all had fun and we all got wet. Okay, I’ll admit it – I had to undo my a button on the ride. Apparently, I’m eating a little too much!

After that, we hung around outside BTMRR waiting for our FP’s to kick in. Samuel did one ride alone then we both went together. We got FP’s to do it again and then went back to Buzz. Boy, we really like this ride, don’t we! After a couple of turns, Samuels asthma cough was back so we decided it would be the best to leave the park and return to the resort. We said good-bye to our galactic hero and boarded the bus to Pop Century. I stopped at the gift shop and bought Zurgs Blaster to add to our Toy Story arsenal at home and went to the food court to get a couple of hot chocolates back to the room.

Tonight my pedometer reads 22,749.

Tomorrow – Animal Kingdom and the Cotton Top Tamarin Cupcake!

As I read your new post today, I couldn't help but think that you all certainly do eat a lot! My word, that was a whole lot of food for just one day.

I'm talking myself into trying the BTMRR next time. I haven't been on a coaster for probably fifteen years.

welcome back! i was hoping you didn't forget your thread :) i was waiting for more food pics haha

they look great! but i can't imagine all the calories you all are consuming..forgive me. im on a weight loss program. I will be going on the 25th!!! and i will too be splurging on food :joker:

You think that's a lot?? It's just three meals and 3 snacks! I'm laughing as I type this. This, of course, is not what we would typically eat in one day at home. Like I said on our other thread, I gained 6 1/2 pounds while I was there!

The BTMRR was a blast. You should try it the next time you're there. All the way up the queue line I kept asking Samuel, "Whose idea was this?"! I almost wished I could back out but I didn't and I'm glad I didn't. I was pretty nervous when I sat down in the car but it was actually a lot of fun so 'go for it'!

Yah, food pics are what matter most in the trip reports, eh? I didn't forget but I'll try not to go so long before my next post. It's just such a pain to deal with uploading the pictures and I don't actually look forward to it because it takes so long.

Are you ready for something ironic??? Not only am I a member of a weight loss program, I'm also an employee of the program!
:lmao:

Then you might understand why I looked at one of the plates of food (maybe it was the big burger and fries?) and thought to myself, "There's more points on that plate than I get for an entire day." :rotfl2:

17928 steps = how many miles for you? I always find it interesting to see how many miles people cover in a Disney day.

I finally got around to doing the math on this on, pwdebbie. 20,000 is 8 miles for me and 15,000 is around 6 miles so 18,000 is likely somewhere around 7 miles and a bit. I'm thinking that I may have walked about 50 - 55 miles while I was at Disney. It felt like a lot more!

Oh, yah ... I certainly do understand that! Sometimes it felt like I was eating my daily points 3 times a day. :rotfl:

oh no, the food pics aren't the only thing that matters, it's just top priority LOL
what website do you upload your pictures?
I think Disney's food for 1 meal is equivalent to 2 days worth of my caloric intake lol

I've been using tinypic.com. I'm not really familiar with how any of the other ones work but this one only uploads one photo at a time and it would be nice if it would upload multiple pics all at once. Plus, this site has things to click on all over the place which is really annoying because I'm forever opening up tabs for their advertisements which is a pain. What do you use?

Hi! Fellow Canadian here! Just caught up on your report. I liked seeing what kinds of meals you guys had with the quick service plan - I've never used this plan before. You have a lovely family :)

I suggest http://imgur.com

you can upload multi pictures, of course sign up for an account first this way you can manage your photos
One thing i like about this is that you can just click on the icon to copy and then paste it here with the code already with it
so you don't have to do it manually when you are posting

here's a pic - i would click on the icon for the Linked BBCode

Hope this helps!

Hi! Thanks for your comments. The QS dining plan was a lot of food for us. I think it still would have been even if we weren't trying to use up all the extra credits that we had because Samuel wasn't eating. There are a lot of great QS restaurants at Disney! I gained 6.5lbs while I was there this time.

Today is our only day at Animal Kingdom. We were really tired and woke up later than we had been all week. Sam was dressed and hungry by 7:30 so Vince took him over to the food court for his pancakes while I got ready. I had a bowl of instant oatmeal in the room and by the time they returned, I was ready to go.

We took our time walking through the paths at the beginning of the park and took a few pictures of things along the way.

Usually, the first thing we do at Animal Kingdom is get in line for the Safari. Today, however, we decided to get FP’s for the Kali River Rapids first. Since there was only a wait time of 5 minutes, we decided to ride rather than get Fast Passes and when the ride was finished since there was still no line, we decided to ride it a second time. Fortunately, we had worn our rain ponchos because we would have gotten completely soaked both times. Samuel still managed to get soaked anyway even though he was wearing his.

Awesome pics! I am leaving to Disney tomorrow!!!!
I won't be back till next week so I won't be really checking disboards, or maybe I will? LOL
