It was previously discussed on this board that BTMRR may be closed for rehab in September, but there was no consensus at the time whether this is true. My 6 year old is finally big enough to go on some of the bigger rides that he was unable to ride during previous trips to WDW, and he is particularly looking forward to BTMRR and ToT. With ToT apparently closed for our Sep 21-26 trip, he will be crushed if BTMRR also is closed. I assume that there has not been any official announcement for a BTMRR rehab, but I would like to know how far in advance Disney typically announces a rehab. If BTMRR will be closed during my late September trip, when can I expect an official announcement from Disney? Thanks in advance for your responses.

AGH!! That can't be!! My DD will also be there in September and will be devastated if BTMRR is closed! Someone tell me this is not true!

I have heard lots of chatter on the boards in the past few weeks about BTMRR, the Lion King Show at AK, and ToT. As far as rumors go, they are usually pretty accurate, but I called Disney today and asked about refurbishments for my Aug 31 - Sept 7 trip and the only one listed (so far....) is the Backlot Tour at MGM. He told me to call back 'closer to trip time' to see if anything else has been added. good luck and have a great time either way!

from the info that i have been reading here and other sites:

several folks have called Disney and each time they have been told that no word of this rehab has come thru yet. (someone even mentioned that the CM on the phone put him/her on hold and contacted someone in maintenance.)
If it were to go thru for a full shut down rehab, they generally know that a few weeks (i read that to be a month) in advance.

Other sites have been saying that the "one car at a time" rehab is to be starting mid to late August. They have mentioned that this would render the ride mostly unuseable.

I don't know what to believe. I am going to hope that the info coming from the CM and the maintenance dept is more on the mark and that if there is some sort of "working rehab" that it will not affect us.
(we are actually going down 2 days early because of this news combined with the seasonal closing of COP which is to happen on the 16th or 17th of Aug. - We will ride these two (if we find them open) until we get kicked off or sick of them.)

If Disney hasn't announced a BTMRR rehab by the end of August, would you assume that we are safe for the week of September 21?

As many of you avid readers probably know, I too was "freaking out" about the Sept rehabs, and had decided to cancel/postpone the trip because I thought that DH and DD (9) would be so upset about the rehabs. I was pretty angry. I called Disney several times, but all they could tell me is that "rumors on the net can very often be true, but we have no info on those rehabs." However, the sources seem pretty reliable. SO, to make a long, tortuous story short, I talked to DD and Dh, and surprisingly, neither was terribly distressed (actually, I have to say I definately was more distressed about the TOT than either one - my fav ride!) They both said, "if we have to chose between going with rehabs, but no lines, and cancelling or postponing the trip - we take going with the rehabs! Now, I do have to say that we decided there was no realistic way that Disney was going to shut down RNRC and TOT at the same time. I am betting that if one goes down, the other will not be down at exactly the same time. So I figure bets are pretty good that RNRC will be up and running last week of Sept, and that was probably the deciding vote. We all love that ride more than any. ALso, we consoled ourselves with the knowledge that MS and just maybe Philharmagic will be open by then!

Anyway - thanks to all you DIS'ers who helped, and I hope that the other posters take a "deep cleansing breath" as I was advised to do, and decide that the benefits far outweigh any disadvantages.

oh no -- cop is closing aug 16/17?

we are getting there on the 16th and hoped to have one last ride. :(

I just called today for PS ressies, they checked and still no BTMRR rehab listed. Another CM told me they would have it listed several months in advance. Wondering why a one car at a time rehab would render it unuseable??

booger!!! I wish i could find the thread here that provided a link to a web page where they were talking about the BTMRR rehab.

Come on you useless seach feature, WORK!

Hey guys, as promised on the other post about this I talked to a manager at BTMRR and was told that the rehab is currently set to begin on August 25 and the ride is scheduled to be closed for 2 months. I still have not seen anything "official" in our cast updates...it is not written in stone anywhere yet, but that is what I got from the management team of the attraction. I will contiune to keep an ear out and watch for further info and let you all know as soon as I hear more.

Personally, I think it's odd that they would choose the month of October for rehab for BTMRR . . . . isn't this a particular favorite for folks attending MNSSHP??

I agree DonnaOz that it is a fan favorite for the Halloween Parties, but if the ride is scheduled for a major rehab that is really the "slow" season for MK. Think about it Jan and Feb are slow, but if they need more time they run into spring break, March and April are Spring Break, May June, July and August are summer vacations, September, October and November (up til Thanksgiving) are the slow time when everyone is getting back to school and between holidays. December is winter break. It makes sense that they would choose the end of August to begin a major rehab. I guess we just have to wait and see when they make the "official" announcement.

I talked with Tara at Poly concierge...she knew nothing about either ToT or Big Thunder being scheduled for rehab anytime soon.

It would also be pretty crappy timing considering the FTP people. They could get a two month rehab in between Halloween and Thanksgiving/Christmas.
