My son, age 6, and I waited for 30 min., get on, and we don't even make it barely out of the station. So, people behind me were commenting how they should get FPs for their trouble even before the CM said anything about it. Then, when they received them, they were rude about it since we could not use them for SMGG or Matterhorn. I told the CM we didnt HAVE to receive anything since it wasn't their fault. He appreciated my outlook on it and told me so.

Why do some feel entitled to everything and then some? I think the CM work really hard and when something is wrong, they are on the front line. Walking a mile in their shoes is extremely tough. I haven't had the priviledge of doing so, but I try to give some of the magic back to them.

It's a shame that more people don't express empathy. I too always think of myself in the other person's shoes. - That being said, I think it's GREAT that as a parent, you are leading by example for your son on how to treat others. You may have shown your child much more than you may realize. A lesson in empathy, as well as being able to go against the crowd, when you know what's right. Very Jiminy Cricket of you! :thumbsup2

I've never asked for a pass when we've been on a ride that has broken down with us on it. I've been evac'd from RR twice, once we got one of those passes, the other time we did not. Once on IJ we were stopped right after the first door you see Indy at, they finally got the ride going and we went all the way, at the end they asked if we wanted to do it again and we all yelled YES so we went again. Otherwise we just get evac'd and leave the ride. It's a bummer when it happens but as you said the CM didn't make it happen so why get annoyed with them?
I'm glad I'm not the only person who feels that way. :)

Good post !! I ESP like the point about setting such a good example!! Good reminder for me not to let little snafus rob me for the joy of Disney!

My dream is for an intrusion on Space Mountain. Would love to be evac'd from that ride with the lights on.

OMG, I was so excited when we had a walk-off on the Holiday Haunted Mansion. At first everyone in our party was kind of annoyed and then when I was so excited about it, they couldn't help but get caught up in my excitment and follow my lead of taking it all in.

It ended being a little bit of a bummer because we were on the holiday tour that with the walk-off it really put us behind schedule to do parade, etc. Still for me, it was a new experience that we had never had so we took it all in. Wastes to much time and energy being crabby and cranky at CMs.

We had SM stop on us. My second time riding it. We were near the end of the ride, one dip away from the final turn and tunnel. It was a little freaky hearing cars behind us still running on the track. Once all the cars came to a halt, the lights went on, they made an announcement, a CM manually pushed us over the last dip, and we coasted through the tunnel back to the loading dock. We were asked if we wanted to go again and we did. It was my 40th birthday so I have a good story to share. It was wonderful seeing the inside in person with the lights on but I so wanted to get out of the car and be escorted out. That would have been amazing.

Darth Mole... when was that? I had the exact same experience in July ... wonder if you were in our rocket!

Thanks Everyone! It is not always easy to do the right thing. I, too, would love to see the inside of SM, but thats ok. It doesn't take away the magic for me at all...it just enhances it.

One of my fondest DL memories is being stopped o SM. I was a teen, and my DB (5 at the time) was next to me. While waiting to be rescued, he fell asleep while the rest of us looked around at the tracks. A couple broke out of their seats and we heard a voice over the speaker to get back in the car. I don't remember much about the walk out, but liked seeing the inside.
