BTMRR at rope drop??

BTMRR was closed during our September trip. Wondering what rope drop is like now after the refurb?? I don't seem to hear much about it, while we hear about 7DMT all the time. Sounds like most rope droppers head toward 7DMT, so maybe BTMRR is a good bet for first thing?

In my experience, that area is always pretty dead at rope drop. I usually head that way for rope drop and have no problems riding anything. Pirates is usually my first ride and then I go on to Splash and BTMRR. Little to no wait at both.

I agree with this assessment. Frontierland is typically very quiet early in the morning. The only attractions I find that have rushes at rope drop are Space Mountain, Peter Pan's Flight and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. If those rides aren't priorities for you, you should have no problem.

Hmmm, sounds like Big Thunder may be our first stop next trip! I've already told DH if we don't get on Space Mountain at all, I won't be sad. I'm sure we'll be able to get a FP for 7DMT at least once, so should work out great!

100 percent agree with this. We have been lucky enough to ride BTMRR multiple times in the morning at rope drop. Couple of times we have got to stay in the car and ride again because it was not crowded.

Most people run straight Fantasyland or go right to Tomorrowland. You can knock out Pirates, Jungle, Splash and Thunder in an hour. Honestly, I would never go all the way to Thunder without stopping at other rides on the way. Unless it is a super busy day at the park, it will still be under 10-15 minutes even at 9:30am.

BTMRR and Space Mountain both (not just BTMRR only) are pretty much walk-ons at rope drop and for a while after. A line doesn't even really begin to develop at SM for the first half an hour. And even then, it's very repeatable until about an hour into the day. (Likely because SM's hourly throughput is a third higher than Big Thunder's.)

We did BTMRR at rope drop several times over our last trip and were easily able to get on three times in a row with minimal wait (I think the standby line said 15 minutes by our third trek in, but it was less than that). It is my 4 year old's favorite ride. This was in early December. We also hit Splash and Pirates after BTMRR and those had minumal waits also. Just an hour later, we saw that standby lines were up to 40-50 minutes or more.

SPACE Mountain or SPLASH Mountain?

(And, that's another good example of why "SM" is not a very precise abbreviation for MK rides.)

Nine times out of 10, we veer to the left into Adventureland for JC and Pirates then into Frontierland for BTMRR at RD. We've never had a wait for any of them, and will often loop BTMRR at least twice as it's our favorite ride!

We have often done BTMRR first thing, and frequently can get 3 or 4 rides on it before any kind of line starts to form. Always a good idea to make that first FP+ reservation of the day for 9:30 - 10:30, or even 10:00 - 11:00 so you have the opportunity to enjoy those short lines first thing in the morning.

Totally agree with this.

We're planning on this RD strategy in May. I'm using FP on 7D, Peter Pan and Pooh. My logic here is that BTMRR is quick. So if we hit that first, we can likely get 2 or three rides in within 10 minutes or so. Out to Splash, which takes a solid 15 minutes at least for one ride. Then double back to Jungle Cruise and Pirates. I feel like i can knock all that out within the first hour.

My kids are 8 and 11. My 8 is the dare devil. The 11 yr old is more of a mild thrills guy. BTMRR is their favorite. So whatever we can do to maximize that ride..,.

One time, I rope dropped BTMRR and I was the only one on it so the attractions hostess asked, "wanna go again" and I said yes and then she asked "wanna go AGAIN" and then I said yes again and then she said "wanna go again" but I said no that time because what I actually wanted was breakfast

Agree with everyone else. If we are there for regular rope drop (Splash and Big Thunder aren't open for morning EMH) then we head straight that way, right Big Thunder walk on, ride Splash walk on (may ride Splash again but that is a longish ride) and then usually go to Haunted Mansion and ride walk on.

That RD strategy sounds perfect! I think we may steal it! LOL.

This thread makes me so happy! With the change to the welcome show/morning process, we dropped the PPO BoG reservation, and are now going to do Frontierland/Adventureland first thing in the morning. Yay for low crowds!

I like this thread. We have an 8am ADR for CP, so we were going to hopefully do Pirates, Splash Mountain and BTMRR before heading over for our Space Mountain and 7DMT FP starting at noon. I was hoping we could at least hit the big three and get over to Space Mountain in time.

I'm hoping even with the new rope drop most people head to 7DMT.
