Hi Guys,

Ok let me first point out that I am in no way racist at all, and I agree that we should help less fortunate countries develop their economy, BUT I hate phoning BT's call centre abroad (not sure which country it is), actually I hate calling BT altogether!

I've recently changed from phones from BT to Talk Talk which went without a hitch, but my broadband won't be changed until later this month. I've always had BT broadband which includes my email account, and I would like to keep this after I change supplier. On their website you can pay £1.50 per month for Premium mail, which I used to have when I only had their basic broadband package which only included web mail. I upgraded to the next level package and full email account was included. I can only find a link to create a new account online and not change an existing account to premium mail, I emailed them in december and received a reply with a telephone number to start the premium mail.

I phoned this number yesterday - foreign call centre - operator had no idea what I was talking about! She gave me another number and again they didn't have a clue. I find it frustrating trying to explain what I want when language is obviously a barrier. They gave me another number which turned out to be UK based and was passed from person to person until I'd spoken to a total of 7 people! Only the last one knew what I wanted (a lovely liverpudlian girl) who had to give me another number in another country. At last she knew what I wanted but said I had to call back about 10 days after my broadband is switched, I kept asking her to assure me that my email account wouldn't be lost as I do all my correspondence through it, I'm not very confident I'm afraid.

So fingers crossed it'll go well, will keep you posted!
Sorry for ranting!

I hate foreign call centres....the operators never seem very knowledgable:confused3

Gavin rang tiscali to ask a question regarding the size limit on our website we use to host our photo's on and the foriegn lass mis-understood to the extent that Gavin got triple the size for the same money! We came out in front there but had it been a more serious query she was clearly incapable of helping out.

Indian Call centres I can get on with OK, except often or not they are not really allowed to do anything usefull or off script.

However I have the most trouble with Scottish call centres, the one for SKY is horrible, I can't understand anything they say :rotfl2: .

Sky are the worst customer service ever. Indian centres may not have a clue what we are talking about but at east they are polite. BT are notorious for bad service with the broadband call centre. We had awful problems with our connection dropping. Eventually we traced a small dept in the UK who deal with broadband complaints, and got it resolved.

I'm not impressed with any call centre, although unfortunately front line staff suffer because of poor management and support training :confused3

Thankfully I don't have that much contact with call centres. Recently I had to phone Amazon and the person I spoke to in Malaysia:sad2: was ok. Had to repeat what I was looking for a couple of times but eventually once he understood my Scottish twang he was a great help:thumbsup2
