Brush with greatness

I went to high school with Johnny Depp. He was a senior when I was a freshman and he was very popular back then, too.

Roger Daltry walked past me in a restaurant in Hollywood, FL. I was a HUGE Who fan and couldn't believe it!! He said Hi and made eye contact but I was speechless. I was surprised by how short he was!!

I shared a beer backstage with the singer from the group that sings 'Mrs. Brown you've got a lovely daughter' I cant remember his name...

Mick Jagger's limo drove past me after a Stone's concert. He was so close I could touch him! He looked exhausted!!!!

My father was a professional boxer and Angelo Dundee was his trainer. He knows Mohammed Ali and gets together with him every few years when Ali gets down to Miami.

I've met tons of Celebrities:

I gave George Lucas and his family a Jungle Cruise.

I had lunch with Maya Angelou.

I know Johnny Depps family, and have met him (he's from my home town) ::yes::

Carrot top auditioned for my student film

I have ridden in an elevator with the guy from Police Academy who makes all those noises!

I've met Mel Brooks.

I saw Gerard Depardiu (sp?) in Hollywood

And tons of sports people....especially St. Louis stars.

there are probably more, I just can't remember

Jungle Josh

I have to say that the nicest guy in showbiz is Tony Orlando! I worked with a menatlly retarded woman in a group home about 10 years ago and she talked alot about Tony Orlando and Dawn. Sooo we took her to Branson when he had the theatre and told him ahead that she was his biggest fan so he sang her a song. He came over to us singing "Gypsy Rose" and he sang it directly to her. He told the audience she was his #1 fan and a very special friend! He danced with her and told her to come back stage after the show and he gave her a huge goody bag! He was so great, and she talks to this day about Tony Orlando kissing her on the cheek! He was WONDERFUL!

Tom Cruise touched my DH's upper thigh, does that count?:D

eeeewwww...........what's the story behind that

I've met Patty Loveless because my good friend used to play in her band.
He was nominated for CMT's guitar player of the year this year. (That sorta makes him famous!)

I've met several WNBA players, including Becky Hammon (NYLiberty) and Nicki McCray and Marie Ferdinand.

I was kissed by the lead singer of Dr. Hook. :teeth: Anyone remember them?

Joe Piscipo (sp) worked during the summer for my neighbor's farm market. (I met him before he was famous)

DH has carried Dolly Parton in his arms while she was wearing heels and a wetsuit!:earseek:

"Mick Jagger's limo drove past me after a Stone's concert. He was so close I could touch him! He looked exhausted!!!!"

Doesn't he always? :duck:

I've had several that i posted on a similar thread about famous people you know but this is the latest one. I took this last month while at Epcot for the Garden Festival. It was weird seeing all of these people in suits running then I realized ......

George Sr. and Babs...were touring, quickly.

I danced on stage with Bo Diddley during a concert at Penn State.

I also walked right up to John Cusack and introduced myself. He was filming in Pittsburgh and was in the same bar as me one night. I have always thought he's very cute but didn't realize that he's about 6'4". I've got a definite thing for tall men. Anyway, my friends couldn't believe I'd done it and I was nervous as all get out, but it was definitely worth it!

Mine are not really brushes w/ greatness- more like staring at greatness from across the room!

I went to high school with Travis Tritt. He was a senior when I was a freshman. He rarely showed up for class, and he was big into chorus and Choral Ensemble.

I talked to Andy Rooney very briefly during the 1988 Democratic Convention. I was working at a ladies' boutique in one of the large hotels in downtown Atlanta, GA. This was the convention where lots of the "Brat Pack" were on hand to campaign for the Dems. I wanted so to meet Rob Lowe or Judd Nelson, but the only famous person I met was Mr. Rooney. He ducked into my shop to write on a legal pad. I approached him and asked if he needed any help, and he told me, in his trademark crumudgeoney style, "Young lady, why would I need help? I'm just using your rack to lean on while I write!". I blushed and quickly exited the scene.

Guess I'm glad I never got to meet Rob Lowe- that was when he got involved with the naughty underage video scandal! :earseek:

When I was 14 I was in the bathroom next to James Caan (he's REALLY short). and, no I didn't look! :smooth:

Last year while on vacation in Maui we were on a snorkling excursion with John Tesh and his wife Connie Selleca and her son (from her marriage to the guy the played Buck Rogers). He's very nice. Talked to him a lot about his radio show and concerts. His wife is a prima donna witch. She wouldn't say two words to anyone and was very rude to the people running the cruise

Was in the elevator in New York City with L.L Cool J. Didn't know what to call him so I just said, "hello Mr. J"

While in Maui at the Four Seasons 5 years ago saw Al Michaels at the gift show. I said "Hello Mr. Michaels" He said, "Hi, how are you doing. Nice to see you". Which I though was polite but a bit strange. He's rather short, too.

Was on the New Year's Disney Cruise in Dec of 2002 and ran in to Jeff Nelson, pitcher for the Mariners at the time, but spent a lot of his career with the Yankees. Had 3 little girls. My wife and his hit it off. They always ended up at the kiddie pool together. His WS ring was awsome!

And, this is the strangest one. Was wait in line at the Home Depot about 2 years ago. That evening we were going to the Paul McCartney concert. I notice someone very familiar in line. I kid you not because I have the autograph....it was none other than Paul McCartney. Have NO IDEA what he was doing at Home Depot, but it was definately him.

While in NY three years ago rode the elevator and walked to dinner with the actress that used to be on NYPD Blue but then became a CNN Headline News newsreader

My Dad had lunch with Terry Bradshaw while he was a student at Baylor. Also in college, my dad and a few of his roommates and friends went to go eat at the Elite Cafe (Elvis ate there) in Waco when the musical group Peter, Paul, and Mary came in a sat in the booth next to them. Dad's roommate, who was a huge fan, looked as if he had just received the best birthday present in the whole world. I don't think that he got the nerve to say hello and ask for an autograph from the trio though!

I got my AA degree from then Texas First Lady Laura Bush.

I ran into San Antionio Spurs player David Robinson at a Rangers game while the Sopurs were playing Dallas in the playoofs.

I ran into a local news anchor at a resturant he said "Thank you for saying hi." LOL

The best near encounter that I've had with a celeb was Dallas QB Roger Staubach, who goes to Prestonwood Baptist Church. A few friends and I from the college group were on a Scavenger hunt and this one guy suggessted that we go to his home in Dallas and ask him to join us (I thought it was a lame idea that would not work)- I was proven right, but we did get an autograph to give the college minister. We didn't get a chance to see Roger, but we did get a chance to see his son *drool* Let's just say that the son didn't get his looks from his dad!

Speaking of Prestonwood I once met Dr. Jack Graham while I was a member at Prestonwood. He just ended his term as President of the SBC.

I ate dinner with legendary Baylor head football coach Grant Teaff and his wife. I also know Baylor's President and First Lady-the Sloans.

er..um...when did Bradshaw attend Baylor? After his NFL career? Terry Bradshaw played football and was drafted out of Louisiana Tech. Or are we talking about the same Terry Bradshaw?

I assure you that this is the same Terry Bradshaw-the bald tow-headed one (thankfully without a comb-over :D) I think he was visiting a friend of his who went to Baylor.

Ah, okay. Your wording confused me. I thought "he" referred to Bradshaw. My apologies.

I went to a Joan Jett concert in which she was reuniting with her former guitar player Ricky Byrd. I was a little bit intoxicated (LOL) and Ricky promised us a pic. Well, being online so longggggggggg I thought we'd be getting a picture of him. Turns out, he brought both me and my friend a guitar pick out. I was quite disappointed by that! LOL Anyway, he invited both my friend and I to a personal party after the concert. We both refused because Joan Jett wasn't going to be there. I have no idea what his intentions were, but I do have an imagination!
