Brush with greatness

Hey Anne, have you ever met any of Def Leppard (Joe Elliott, Phil Collen, Rick Savage, Rick Allen, or Vivian Campbell)? I'm dying to know!
:rockband:

And my brush with greatness.. I guess that would be, that Britney Spears has a house in my town and we both visit the Destin Commons frequently. (some of my friends have actually met her there.) Im never lucky enuff to be there during the many times she visits. LOL
I'm at Destin Commons a lot when I'm down there and I've never seen her either. I'm sure my 16 y/o DS would die of a heart attack if he saw her!

Vivian when he was touring with Whitesnake in 1987. Joe Elliott at some point in time at a photoshoot. Can't say I really "know" either of them.

In 1985, DH and I were vacationing in LA. We went to Sonny Bono's restaurant, "Bono's" for dinner. When we walked in, he was seated in the lobby. DH walked up to him and introduced himself, and Sonny shook his hand, thanked him for coming to dinner and said, "Here, my daughter Chastity will seat you." She was about 19 at the time. She walked us to the table said, "Do you want a wine list?" DH said, sure, so she just dropped it onto his table setting and walked away. Something told us that she was not too happy about doing hard labor in Daddy's restaurant. When we left, Sonny asked us about our meal, and thanked us for coming. Very nice guy...

About 3 years ago DH, DS's and I were in Montana. DH went on a tour of the Gibson guitar factory there, wandered into an "off limits" room, and found Randy Travis sitting in there with some other guys. So DH just sits down like he belongs there, and they all talk for a while, then they all leave. DH has nerves of steel, I couldn't do it.

Also, about 4-5 years ago (when was it?) DH while between jobs, applied for and got a part as an extra in The Patriot. He was a British soldier, had a lot of fun. He was a stand in for Jason Isaac's character across from Mel Gibson, and got a few parts that required camera time. Unfortunately most of that camera time ended up on the cutting room floor, although some of it is in "deleted scenes" on the DVD. DH said that Mel Gibson is 1) Very short 2) Into a lot of mischief on the set 3) a chain smoker. DH said that Heath Ledger ate lunch with the extras quite a few times, and he sat next to him on occasion.

I was walking out of a Broadway show and noticed papparazzi running after someone, so I ran too. Ended up walking next to Mel Gibson. Not really a "brush" with greatness, but I did notice that he is not much taller than me. (I'm 5'2") That's ok, he is still a cutie...::yes::

And last of all, about 8 years ago, DH and I went to see Late Show w/D. Letterman. While we were sitting in the theater waiting for everthing to start, the announcer, Alan came over to us and started flirting with me. I guess he did that because we both have red hair. That guy REALLY gives me the creeps...:crazy2:

I have a few (mainly Bruce)

We belong to the same beachclub as Bruce Springsteen :rockband: but he is very rarely there and not very approachable, although he did one time pick up my son:confused:

I once attended a wake for a mutual friend and Bruce sang awesome ballad as a tribute.

Sat behind James Gandolfini at a local Bruce show

I hung out with Brian WIlliams in HS

I got high with David Johansen and Lou Reed (I was young

 ) at the same time.

Sat next to Pi Diddy Puff daddy doodle and Sean John at Radio City Music Halls Christmas Show.

I sat next to Geraldo Rivera once on a plane to LA he was very cool

My biggest claim to fame was I was at the taping of an MTV New Years Party (no they are not really live) and I was caught on film dancing with Pauly Shore
:rotfl: :rotfl:

I know that this is incredible and probably most of you won't believe me, but..........

I've met Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse!! And I hate to name drop, but I've had photos taken with them, as well as D. Duck and Goofy!! .........................:p P

I was once literally knocked down by Corey Feldman at Disneyland. He and some friends were running and didn't notice me.

I saw Martina Hingis the tennis palyer at TGI Friday's at Jack London square in Oakland, CA.

I was once in a Nike commerical with Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi (as were 2000 extras) - But I was pretty close and nticeable in the commercial.

I saw Tiger Woods on the 18th green at Pebble Beach in 2000 when he won the US Open by 15 strokes or so - not sure that counts though.

Earlier this year I met:

I have also met:

and I went to high school with:

and one of the guys in this video:

who later became a Solid Gold dancer.

I also used to really be into going and hearing motivational speakers, and I have met alot of them - Zig Ziglar, Dennis Waitley, Les Brown, etc.

I've also met alot of semi-famous blues artists as we have several good blues clubs in my town.

Tommy Matola is a former client ( turned friend) of my husband's. We actually vacationed with him and Mariah Carey many years ago in Italy. We have met some of the greats due to his kindness and generosity. Lovely man.

Not me but my husband has met some interesting people. When he was in the Olympic trials back in the 1950's he had dinner one night at Gregory Peck's home. His room mate was Bill Russell (Boston Celtic's legend).

I had a conversation with Arthur Fiedler (Boston Pops Conductor) when I was around 9 years old.

Here's funny story. My daughter was out in CA visiting a friend who was working in the movie industry. They got invited to some sort of a cast party. At one point my daughter was in the ladies room and a woman came in and pushed by her. My daughter turned around and called her a very unflattering name. Turns out the woman was Dimi Moore. :p

One more, my son saw some of the members of Aerosmith at a local restaurant. Some of the band only lives about 10 miles from me.

I went to school with Bon Jovi. We also met Jason Priesty before a speedboat race that he was piloting one of the boats.

jipsy..... I hate to sound stupid, but except for M.Jackson, I didn't recognize a single person in your post!! Who are they?...................P:confused:

OK, in 1997 while my DW and I were running down the boardwalk for cover from a nasty down pour, we ended up
underneath the canopy at JELLYROLLS. I turn around after getting drenched and there stands Jim Nabors (aka Gomer Pyle).

I said hi, we struck up a conversation and all went into jellyrolls for the night, what a blast we had. Had to carry DW back to the Yacht Club that night.

Guess I have been lucky to have a few. The ones that stand out are Robert Reynolds from The Mavericks and of course all of the guys from The Push Stars.

Met Robert a few years ago while we were standing outside waiting for the venue to open their doors for the show. Robert came walking up the alley and stoped and talked to me for a while. After the show he was out back riding his bike and I got some wonderful pictures of him there. We met a few times after that too.

Of course, I have to mention the guys from The Push Stars. First time I met them was in April here in Asheville. Before the show the bass player came up to me and told me he thought the shirts my friend and I were wearing were cool. We chatted for a bit then. After the show we got to meet the other two guys.

Then after the next show we got a special request played for us in the dressing room area of the club. There were 3 other peole left in the club and they were invited in for the song too. Now that is a night I will never forget!

When I went to see them in May they were staying at the same hotel as us the first night. We chatted with some of the guys at the hotel before they had to leave for sound check. A friend and I went to 3 shows in a row that week and we chatted with the guys before and after each show. They do know us by name now.

I used to work security for a local event center here in the QC. I got to work backstage and see (sometimes escort them to their busses when they took off) for Neil Diamond, Bon Jovi, Extreme, Billy ray Cyrus, a couple WWF events, and some others. My surprises about meeting some of these people were how they were different from what you think they are.
Jack Blades and Tommy Shaw of Damn Yankees were shorter than I though they would be. That wrestler Ted DiBiase was probably the nicest of the bunch. I stood shoulder to shoulder with George "The Animal" Steele (then with the traveling management for events) to block the bay doors so The Undertaker could take off in his limo. He spoke perfect english and didn't chew on anything.
At the ESPN club at WDW, I literally bumped into Jeff Bagwell (1st baseman for the Astros) on his way out/my way into the Mens Room. I didn't recognize him until I came out and he was surrounded by kids asking for his autograph.

Mine are very minor compared to some of your awesome stories! I held the door open for Micky Dolenz in 86 when some girlfriends and I were staying at the same hotel--since I'd been a fan since I was 3 in 1966 I almost had a heart attack. Later I got his autograph several times--the best was a meet and greet in Cleveland in 1996 when I got Davy, Peter and Micky to all sign a picture of the 4 of them getting their star on the walk of fame, and since it was my BDay I had Micky (can you tell he is my favorite) write "happy birthday" on it.
Then of course I had to get a picture with Eisner on New Years Day at MK this year. I know some of you hate him, but it was the closest I've been to such a major player.

Wow! I bet that was amazing!

Very interesting, thanks!

I just remembered. My best friend had a high school fling with Robbie from the Goo Goo Dolls. She likes to avoid the subject.:p
