I usually post on the other forums and have just lurked here for several months. You all seem to know how to do/find anything, so I'm asking the experts! I am a new Brownie Troop leader and would like to scrapbook our year for the girls. Any idea where I can get stickers/paper/etc. for this? Thanks!

Does your GS council have a store? I seem to recall some stickers and things at our council store.

There is not much out there in the way of real GS scrapbooking stuff. My LSS has some laser die cuts and Autumn Leaves (a SB company) has some paper but nothing strictly Brownie.

GSUSA will not allow anyone to use the the GS logo. That would be the reason behind little stuff out there. I can occassionally find things at different LSS's like once I found the GS honor fingers, and I have found a GS cookie die cut. Some company that makes vellum sayings has a GS one too.

Good luck finding much. Too bad GSUSA does not realize how much $$$ they could make if they would let someone market for them.

Welcome to Scouting!

There are a few odds and ends out there that are "Girl Scout" inspired but as already mentioned GSUSA isn't into licensing. Silly them! Boy Scouts has been raking in money once they started licensing. There are a few stickers now being produced that they will sell through their own Scoutlets (council stores).

I've scrapped all of my daughter's (our troop's) activities from Daisies through their recent bridge to Seniors. I'll work in "official" and "inspired" papers, etc when I can but usually I do what I do with everything else...work with the colors and what is going on in the photos/event.

Um...one thing that you could consider is scanning badges, patches, etc and then printing them to cardstock for embellishment or using them (resized or multiple pastes) in watermark format as background paper....not that I would EVER recommend any sort of copyright infringement.... :sad2:

I'm a Junior coleader (and Cookie Mom) and there really is not much out there. Since there isn't, I've gone with colors that go with the theme, Jolee's for Thinking Day countries

Stamping Up had a cute set of Girl Power stamps that had a Girl Scout theme. They are retired, but you might be able to find them on ebay. I have used those w/permanent black ink and had the girls use colored pencils to fill them in. They also had a camping set that I used for Camporee. I scanned my daughters patches for borders.

I think Girl Scouts would be very smart to market. Think of all of the girls, troops and families that would like to scrapbook all of their scouting activites!

Welcome

A couple weeks ago I went to a great LSS in Nashville and saw different types of CS for Scouts. Now, some of it may have been boy scouts, I'm not sure, but I KNOW I saw several sheets of different CS and other Scouting material. If you want to contact them personally you can call THE CROP SHOP in Franklin, TN. Number is 615-778-9978. They also have a location in Chattanooga, TN w/a toll free number. 1-866-CROP-SHO(P). They had a website but it's not been working for several months. You might be able to call them and ask what they have and who makes the paper and then contact your LSS. OR you may just want to order direct from Crop Shop. They're super nice people and I know they'd love to help you.
GOOD LUCK!

My granddaughter joined a brownie troop this year and what I did was buy some Bazzill paper in *brownie* brown and blue, then 2 shades of lighter brown.

As my granddaughter has earned her Try-It's I've been scanning them and plan on printing them on photopaper and combining them with my cardstock to make simple borders.

I purchased SU! *Girl Power* off of eBay on the advice of a SU! demonstrator ... according to her SU! discontinued the stamp sets b/c both the girl scouts and boy scouts complained that SU! was infringing on their copyright/trademark rights ... however I paid nearly $50 for it.

And that is the problem right there Memaw2Wm,

Those logos, etc are trademarked and are a very important part of the organization's identity. As a marketer I totally understand the desire to "control" the way in which they are used. However, I find it silly (again as a marketer) that these organizations are not capitalizing on a built in money maker!

Boy Scouts has now authorized some things but GSUSA is way behind the times (and not just on scrapping materials but many other issues but that is for a different forum). The Stampin' Up stamps are great! But the logo should not have been used without permission (and payment of a licensing fee). Generally, if it is just suggestive the organizations will leave it alone - but as soon as the actual logos, icons, and copyrighted materials are used "for commercial gain" then they will start to descend like vultures. Sort of like Disney!

Actually the SU! "scout" stamp sets didn't use the GSA or BSA logos ... the *Girl Power* set has three girls holding hands (friendship circle) ... a girl crossing a bridge (bridging over) ... a box of cookies ... girl carrying a flag (flag ceremony) ... star ... rope heart ... and a peering girl ... no brownie trefoil or even a plain trefoil ... to me these are just suggestive of scouting ... although each of the girls are wearing a beanie and that may be the problem.

Hmm...wonder if they had a couple sets? One of the girls in my troop brought a set to our meeting Monday (we scrap once a month) that definitely had the logo. It might have been that once GSUSA saw that one they looked more closely and SU decided to discontinue both to avoide a problem. Just a guess.

Going back to my original point though - they really need to start licensing those logos for scrapping. A few years back they licensed some of the cookie names and authorized Little Brownine Bakers to sell cookies to Eddy's Ice Cream company (not sure of all the flavors but I've seen Samoa, Thin Mint, and Tagalongs) that have become strong sellers.

Meanwhile, we all keep working around the lack of "real" stuff. Probably about the time my DD graduates they will come out with licensed product! :rotfl:

I've only seen three *scout* sets ... the Girl Power ... a similar one for cub scouts and a camping version.

But you're right, GSUSA is sitting on a gold mine ... license those images to CM or whoever and make some money off of them ... that's got to be a easy money maker!

Oh, don't say CM. Let them license them to a company that supplies LSS. I agree with you all in that GSUSA is missing the boat here. I wish there was some way we could contact them and let delegates vote at the national convention this year.

oooo...an interesting suggestion, but I don't think that sort of stuff goes to a vote at the convention. Maybe someone could bring it up though - at least get it into their minds.

I don't know who are reps are this year. Do you? Or anyone out there know a council rep going to the national convention?

Or maybe we should just start inundating them with mail!

Hi, all of you that are having a hard time finding Girl Scout scrapbooking supplies. The reason being is that Girls Scouts of America have not release their logo to be use in products. So we who want scrapbook supplies need to go to Girl Scout wed site and email them and let them know is a need and want for these products. I am a Brownie leader and I have discussed this with my serivce leader and this is the advice I was given. If we have enough voices then maybe our wants will be met. :cheer2: So join me in this request. :grouphug:

Welcome to the DIS Denise.

Can you provide a link to exactly where to write. DD is a cadette and it is so hard to find anything. Autumn Leaves had a bunch of paper a year ago and now they no longer make it.

There's a scrapbooking store in Millersville, Md. called "Great Scraps".
They have 12X12 girl scout papers.
I've never looked for any stickers, borders, etc.
