Brown Derby Worth Two Credits?

DH has been wanting to try this place, but last time I heard, it took two TS credits to dine there. And looking over their menu, their prices aren't any higher than some other restaurants, particularly in World Showcase. So I was wondering if the food there would be worth using two credits; and if so, would an appetizer be included also. Thanks!

We went six years ago and we were not overly impressed. We've not gone back because we definitely did not find it worth two credits. We didn't care for the food (we've had better in World Showcase) and the overall dining experience was not a good one--service was terrible (and that was at 1:00 in the afternoon with only five tables occupied).

That being said, others love the Brown Derby. So if it is something you really want to try, give it a go.

We went a few years ago and would not use 2 credits to go again. We had the Cobb Salad which was very good but nothing so fantastic quality or quantity wise that we would rush there again.

Goviemom I hate using 2 TS for any meal...but I would do it again to eat at the Brown Derby...ate there last summer for dinner and we loved it!:lovestruc

We had a knowledgeable and attentive waiter...we also shared cobb salad for an appie then had NY strip steak and pork tenderloin...both cooked nicely and delicious..

And we topped our meal off with some very yummy desserts...flourless chocolate cake and and bananas foster type desset...

We enjoyed our meal and the BD atmosphere in general...neat decor and a nice way to take a break after a busy day at DHS...

We loved the Brown Derby and thought it was well worth the 2 TS credits. We had the Cobb salad, NY strip, and grapefruit cake. Yummmm..... :goodvibes

We also loved the BD and considered it well worth the 2 TS credits...the appies were not included, however we chose to pay OOP for the cobb salad which was great. I had the tuna, and it was one of my favorite meals of the trip! Plus Grapefruit Cake - need I say more??? mmmmmmmmmmm

As a treat to ourselves, every time we're at WDW, the Brown Derby is a must for us. We always book the Fantasmic Dinner Package for there, and it is well worth it for the two of us. The food and service is wonderful, but the best is their Grapefruit Cake!

for us it wasn't worth 2 TS credits. there are many other options in WDW that are worth it/better IMO!

I do not like 2 TS meals and most of them I have thought were not worth it. HBD is the exception. I love it and in my opinion its the only place at DHS worth eating. If you like tuna steak theirs is excellent. I think if the menu appeals to you, you should at least try it once.

I have always wanted to try BD also. Love the old Hollywood theming. However, I think we will either go for lunch or pay oop for dinner. I don't see the prices being worth using 2 ts credits, and to hear others say that still wouldn't include appetizers :confused3. Definitely trying it this trip though.:thumbsup2

IMHO nothing is worth 2 TS credits anymore unless you are on the Deluxe plan. One thing that sets the Signature restuarants apart is the appetizers. Getting something like sushi at California Grill with its 20$ plus price tag almost makes it worth it. Now with no appetizers on the basic Dining Plan I just can't justify it.

We toyed with going to Jiko this trip but looking at the prices for entrees it just doesn't make sense. Add to that the fact that we would need to eat CS for one of our other meals and we ruled it out.

i would say no, looking over at their menu nothing really impresses me to use 2 credits. only place where i would say 2 credits is worth it is at the cali grill at the cr.

Is Brown Derby worth 2 TS? No.

Is it worth dining at? Most definitely!

It's not cost effective to use 2 TS credits at most of the Signature restaurants. Better to pay OOP, but definitely go to dine there. It's wonderful!

I vote yes! It's a very nice restaurant. The Cobb salad is delicious, as is the grapefruit cake.

Jiko and Brown Derby are the only TS restaurants that my d wants to go to again. Maybe we'll pay OOP, but we'll definitely go again!

We have been there twice and will be headed back again this fall...so a big yes from me.

Us too! We loved BD and are planning on going back this next trip. :thumbsup2

Yes...2 credits is steep, but we had wonderful service (actually the best we've ever had at any WDW restaurant), plus our meals were delish from app's to desserts!

Plus, IMO there aren't very many good restaurants at DHS, so if you're thinking of going on a day when you'll be there anyway, then I say give it a try. ;)

Thanks guys, for the encouragement to go ahead and try the Brown Derby ... finally! Probably for lunch and paying OOP though. :-)

We went on our Anniversary trip for lunch using the DDP, and I don't think it was worth 2 credits. That said, it was a good meal, so if we went back, we would do exactly what you are planning. The best thing we had there was the Cobb salad, and it was so huge we could have split it. We could easily go back and pay OOP and get out of there pretty cheap. Have fun!
