Would we be crazy to take young kids to the Brown Derby?

Our older two kids will both be having birthdays on our next trip (yep,on their actually days). We told them they could plan the day. Our 12 year old ds picked a day at Disney Quest and dinner at HDDR. Our 13 year old ds wants to spend his day at a water park and than go to the Brown Derby for dinner followed by Fantasmic. We have never eaten at the Brown Derby, but ds is a big steak eater and he wanted Fantasmic, so in researching this is the plan he came up with.

My concern is that we also have dd's ages 7 and 3 - will the girls be comfortable at this restaurant? Any suggestions for an alternative plan to suggest to ds? Thanks for your help?

I am interested in this too. We have an ADR with Fantasmic there on our upcoming trip. My kiddos will be 5 and 2. We eat out A TON, so I am sure that they will be OK. They are good about trying foods, so they will find something to eat there too.

I say give it a try.

We did this when my youngest was 2 and my oldest 7. They did wonderful and don't let the title of the place scare you. We also eat out a lot so my kids are comfortable in a restaurant setting. They had coloring sheets for the kids just like every other restaurant on property. The food is awesome - I recommend the Cobb salad. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants on property! Enjoy!

We're doing the Fastasmic dinner package at the Brown Derby also. I was a little hesitant to make an ADR there because my nephew is only 4. When I spoke to the CM, she said that all of WDW restaurants are child friendly, except one or two (Victoria and Albert's being one of them).

Hope your children have great birthdays!!!

Brown Derby is very child friendly. Lots of families eating there prior to Fantasmic.

My kids are 8, 6, and 1 and we've eaten there several times. No worries. Have a fun trip!

The first time we took DS he was 4. Last time the kids were 6 & 9. We have always had great luck with the kids & the staff at BD.

All restaurants at Disney World at kid friendly. I wouldn't hesitate at all taking your kids to any restaurant. And this comes from two adults with no kids.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance! We do eat out weekly at nice restaurants with the kids, so eating in a restaurant is a familiar activity for them. One of the reasons we love Disney is that it is so kid friendly, but fear of the unknown on this restaurant had me second guessing our plans...looks like it is a go! Thank you for your help :thumbsup2

You'll be fine going there with kids. There's always families there when we've gone. We love brown derby. We went in Nov. and Dec last year. Both times our filets were better there then at Le Cellier. Plus the cobb salad is really really good. Your ds will like it.
