Less than a month to go until our vaca! :cool1:

The one day I couldn't decide on dinners I had booked both Brown Derby and Narcoosees, and today I intend to cancel one. We will be at DHS during the day, and then back to our resort for an evening event - we are staying at the Poly.

Which would you ditch? :confused3

We had an amazing meal at Brown Derby earlier this week. The food was absolutely delicious, our server (Tomas) gave impeccable and unrushed service, & the peaceful break from the park was very nice. I highly suggest the cobb salad, filet w/ truffled mashed potatoes, & "Stars" white wine flight. Have a wonderful trip!!!

I suppose it would depend on what time the ADR was for. At either of these places, I would want to relax and take my time with the meal. Since you are commited to an evening function, I would keep the earlier ADR so I wouldn't feel rushed.

Thanks y'all. I'm going to keep Brown Derby as it's at 5PM and our evening thing is at 8. That should give us enough time to eat, head back to the resort and have an hour or so of downtime. :)

Narcoosees is my least favorite signature. Brown Derby has always been nice. I had the grouper there last week and it was quite good. Someone in our party had the pork chop and said it was the best he'd ever had.

I prefer Brown Derby. I feel the food is more interestingly prepared than at Narcoossee's, and I love the Old Hollywood atmosphere. Plus, I find that service is consistently better at Brown Derby (based on my experience, anyway).

I think the grapefruit cake dessert is really delicious. Some people think it's too sour, others think it's not strong enough, I think it's just right. :cloud9: I actually prefer it over Narcoossee's raved about almond-crusted cheesecake, which is too rich for me.

Thanks for the additional feedback. Brown Derby was the one I was least looking forward to, but now I'm excited about it after hearing the positive reviews!

I hope they have old timey cocktails, too. DH and I are really into that right now. :D

I would have kept Narcoossees...Brown Derby was very disappointing...IMO. And we all disliked that grapefruit cake...very bitter/tart...ick!

We just visited last week and had ADR's at both Narcoossee's & Brown Derby. Out of our 12 ADR's, Brown Derby was the only one I absolutely hated. I will never return. The service was awful. The waiter kept putting off bringing out dessert for my son until he ate more (we were on the deluxe dining plan and had enough to eat prior to this meal... I made that clear when we arrived). He also did not ask my son what he wanted for dessert and brought him something with chocolate (which my son hates)... it was terrible. I wasted 2 credits on a Cobb salad :(

Narcoossee's was AMAZING. We had a wonderful table, great service (very quick & friendly) and the food was the best we had the entire trip.

They do have old timey cocktails and excellent bartenders.

I have never eaten at Narcoosee's, but of all the signatures I have tried, Brown Derby is hands down the best. The food is fantastic! In fact it's the only signature we have done more than once, we like it that much.

All these years and we still have not eaten at Narcoossee's.

But we've eaten numerous times at The Brown Derby, and each meal was excellent. I consider it the place to eat, if you are planning to eat at The Disney Studios.

I really like BD, don't care for Narcoossee's. It wasn't bad, but I don't think it's worthy of a signature status. I'm not willing to pay those kinds of prices for food that's just ok.

Brown Derby had good food and service. I'd go for the Cobb Salad and Grapefruit Cake only. :rotfl:

They have an adorable little 'Martini Tree' right now - it's a sampler with three different flavors of mini martinis.

Oooh the martini tree sounds right up my alley. We're spending all day at DHS so this sounds like it'll be a great finish to our day.

I would pick Brown Derby any time over Narcossees. We didn't enjoy both of our meals there this year however we really liked Brown Derby.

JacksMama,

That's funny, I have the same situation. I'm going in a month and have a dinner planned for Brown Derby and Narcoosees as well. I need to drop one and am not sure. I was originally planning on dropping Brown Derby, but I'm starting to reconsider. Btw, I'm also a Jack'sMama as well :)

We loved Brown Derby. The atmosphere was very relaxed, the service outstanding and the food amazing. We felt very special there.

What I also loved was when my daughter (whos 10) looked at the menu - she was like :scared1: to her it was all fancy, other than steak I dont think she recognised most of the offerings :lmao: The waiter leaned over and whispered to her "if you would like fries with that steak I can do that and tell me what your favorite vegetable is" She smiled and nodded and said she liked broccolli and she got everything she asked for and a drink with a flashing light in it - she said it was her favorite meal and still raves about the steak she had there.
