Brown Derby for Fantasmic dinner package?

Did I make the right choice? I've never been to a TS restaurant at DHS so I'm flying blind. (Well, sort of. I have a general idea of what all the restaurants are like.)

I went with the Brown Derby because I remember that being closest to the theater and the area where we'll likely spend our last hours at DHS for the day . . .

What do you think? I'm travelling with two newbies, one of whom is a 12 year old child.

We did not like Brown Derby. But despite that, be sure you are aware it is a 2 table service credit per person. I'm not sure if it is for the Fantasmic Package. Someone who has done this for the Fantasmic package should be able to answer that.

The Hollywood Brown Derby is one of my favorite restaurants in all of WDW. You've definitely made a great choice. I don't really know much about the Fantasmic! package though, do you have a set menu for that? I can tell you that their Salmon with Gorgonzola Polenta is to die for... soooo good!!! They have really good Crab Cakes for appetizers too.

We were very unhappy with the service (and when we went for lunch, there were only four other tables occupied!). We were not crazy about the food. I don't remember what my DH had, but I had a steak of some sort and it was fatty and no flavor. My DH, who is a big dessert eater, did not like the grapefruit cake at all. We have thought of giving it a second try as it has been five years since we ate there, but we just can't see using two table service credits (we are on the dining plan) for a restaurant we were not happy with when there are so many others that we truly enjoy and new ones to try.

We love Brown Derby. I ahve been there over 10 times and never have been dissapointed. IMO it is one of the best in-park reataurants. Of course every place you go will be hit or miss but I think compared to the other offering in HS this will be most appealing.

I think a lot of the restaurants are on the chilly side... probably just overcompensating for the horrible Florida weather. My mom always had to take a sweater along just for the restaurants.

We are doing the Derby/Fantasmic package in July.

I am pretty sure it is indeed 2 TS still with the pacakage but you get the appetizer INCLUDED with the "package" meal.

Then they take you in the side entrance and get to sit in the reserved section of the theater (off to the side i think).

Looking forward to trying the Brown Derby. We have been systematically trying different restaurants every time we go back. So this is one of our new ones to try out.

We haven't been there in a few years, but I remember it as being very "grown up". Not sure I would take kids there. There isn't a lot about it that they may find appealing. I do remember that the food was excellent. Do they still have the piano player? I thought that was awesome!
