Brown Derby Dessert

The grapefruit cake and flourless chocolate cake look really good in all the pictures posted here. Is it worth going to the Hollywood Brown Derby in the middle of our day at DHS and just getting dessert? Also do you think it's necessary to make ADRs for it?

You will need ADRs even for just dessert.

On my 40th bday I wanted the grapefruit cake as my "bday" cake. So we made early lunch ressies for just dessert.

Wasn't sure how the waiter would be since it is a very $$ place and we were ordering just that cake and water. But he was the best! Gave me an extra dessert for my bday, got a card and he sang happy bday to me.
Really made my day. Oh and he also called me princess......was priceless.

I loved the cake, the sauce was a bit bitter but was a nice compliment to the sweetness of the cake itself. I highly recommend getting it.

Oh and he was tipped nicely.....because he really made me feel special.

DH hated the grapefruit cake (and my DH LOVES desserts). You can, however, get the grapefruit cake, I believe, at Starring Rolls, if you don't want to eat at the Brown Derby.

But I'm with your DH. I so anticipated trying the highly touted grapefruit cake but I thought it was sub-par! Actually, our entire meal at TBD was disappointing.

Make it a lunch reservation and have the Cobb Salad with your Grapefruit Cake. It's an awesome atmosphoere and a great place to cool off and recharge.

I agree about the meal too -- definitely not worthy of the hype. We had uncooked steaks and we were there two hours and ONLY five tables were occupied. Definitely not worth a return trip in our book.
