Brown Derby and Narcoossee's...what am I missing?

I'm finally about done with the plans for our ADRs (180 days on April 5th ) and, of our "would like to try" list, Narcoossee's and Hollywood Brown Derby are the only two that don't fit. Since we're not likely to be visiting again for many years, I just wanted to check that we're not making a big mistake skipping them.

I would go to Narcoossee's on my last evening and plan it around "Wishes." "Wishes" from the boat dock at the Grand Floridian is worth the time.
I like the majority of the other restaurants that you've chosen, especially the "Flying Fish." Please try the Potato-Encrusted Red Snapper, you'll love it.
Have a great time.

Agree with other poster, Narcoosee's is more worth the effort to fit into your schedule than HBD. You sound like me, planning meals all around WDW for maximum enjoyment. We too pay OOP (but do have the Disney Dining Experience card) and always like to try new places; next for us will be Flying Fish, maybe WCC. FWIW.

IF you are a group of adults, you would certainly want to skip O'hana and all the carryings-on there, and have a nice meal at Narcoossee's.

I was going to post exactly what Uncleromulus did. Even with children, I'd pick Narcoossee's actually.

Would Brown Derby for lunch fit your plans? We go then. Dinner can be quite busy because of the Fantasmic package. Lunch there makes a pleasant, cool respite from the park.

I agree. Narcoossee’s is a must do for us. Skip 'Ohana's and do Narcoossee's, you won't be disappointed.

Have fun!

Hmm... if you want to try Brown Derby, and you take the "lunch" advice, AND you want it to be something special (albeit relatively expensive), consider Lunch with an Imagineer. It needs to be booked either 60 or 30 days in advance, and unless you have eight people in your party you might be sharing the table with other Guests, but it's definitely a special experience!

Except not with kids IMO. It is also quite a bit more expensive than lunch.

But certainly a special experience. My son and his now wife did it a 5 years or so ago and loved it. From what they said, it was just fine having others at the table. Brings different perspectives.

I agree with the others, skip 'Ohana and go for Narcoossee's.

I'm not sure if it will become an annual tradition for us, but we do CAGrill on our last night and we always schedule dinner a little later so we can catch Wishes (though I still prefer to experience it in the park).

Personally, I'm not sure why HBD is a signature meal. I wasn't all that impressed when I ate there for dinner.

Oh, if you want to completed your "world tour" with a non-Epcot dinner, how about some of the flavors of Africa... try Jiko.

Got to agree with this thought.

And I'm surprised that uncleromulus spelled 'Ohana wrong. :goodvibes

Wow...very glad I asked. I obviously had it all wrong. :rotfl:

So, Narcoossee's is definitely in. Our last day will be a Friday so lunch with an Imagineer at HBD could be just the thing. Pure genius :worship:

Thanks so much for all your help.

Oh vascubaguy - we do have plans for Jiko after our AK visit. We're staying offsite so might not be able to go back and change first though...might have to shift that one too.

Since you're staying offsite are you driving in to the parks? I would recommend driving to AK (if no where else), then driving to AKL that night for dinner. You can bring clothes with you to change into. The bathrooms off the lobby have fairly large stalls, and you'd have no trouble changing in there. That's actually what we're planning to do on our upcoming trip so we don't have to return to OKW between AK and Jiko.

As for Le Cellier... eh. It's good, but not *great*. The theming isn't really anything "special," and it sounds like that's what you're looking for. We've found it (especially in recent years) to be very noisy and crowded, and the tables are *extremely* close together. Have you considered Spoodles? It can also be noisy (big room full of people), but it's really fun (with a rustic, Mediterranean-inspired theme) inside, and the food is excellent. Also they have really good drinks - the Spoodlerita and Sangria are highly recommended!! :hippie:
