Broward County FL schools on lockdown? Possible gunman loose?

Then again, I'd imagine any parents with kids in this district might be a bit too busy to be DIS'ing right now.

That is so scary. I hope they catch the psycho. I went to school (elementary, middle and high school) in Broward Co., so I'll be keeping an eye on this story.

I dont see a big deal right now. If its true or not, they dont know becuase it seems lke someone called into the radio station and thats how it started. Either way all the schools are on lockdown, private, public, charter. At some point they ahve to release students.

To some degree I have to think they must have *some* credible hard evidence cuz it seems like a huge inconvenience to lock down ALL school and some even have perimeter around them.

They are having a news conference now. Looks like they are saying the credibility of the threat is diminished. School dismissal is going to go on as normal but after school activities are canceled.

My DDs are in school right now. The little one gets out at 2:00 - DH is picking her up, he is going to walk because its normally a madhouse, we can imagine how it will be today. My older DD gets out later, we were texting before and she had just been allowed to use the restroom (campus style school) and they were trying to figure out how to get lunch to them. Lockdown started in our city, so when I first heard about it, I wanted to cry. My boss said I could go home, but I didn't want to stand outside the building all day, plus my husband works right down the street. Hoping they find the nuts who started all of this. Praying that dismissals go smoothly!

My kids were locked down but its been lifted. They are now safely on their way home!

It seems a woman called a radio station claiming her husband was going to go into schools and start shooting. She also warned of something "big" happening at government buildings. It started in Pembroke Pines and the lockdown then spread to all of Broward. I heard from a wife of a policeman that at one point, they were concentrating on Cooper City High (but I can't verify tht)

Thankfully, the lockdown is over and parents can get their kids. There is nothing more scary than not being able to get to your children. My husband works near my kids school and was keeping an eye on it, thankfully, otherwise I would have hauled it over there myself!

I went to Cooper City High... ahhh the memories.
My freshman year, a few high school students and a couple middle school students decided it would be fun to call in bomb threats from a pay phone down the street. Every day for over a week, we spent about an hour outside as the school was searched. The police finally decided to track the phone call, and found them at the quickie store down the street that most kids went to on the way home.
Doesn't seem like the fun has stopped...
