and people were a little nervous eating them.......they are put out by Kirschner and also Jordans.....anyone else have these ....they have a good regular hot dog taste and they snap a little when you bite into them........well these same people that were nervous about eating red hot dogs.......ate the mooseburgers no problem......hahaha:crazy:

Nope never heard of them before. Personally I like beef hotdogs, but I will eat the pork ones if that is all someone has.

I think red dogs are a Maine thing, pumba. I know I had never seen them in my life before moving to Maine. They do tend to freak out those who have never seen them, don't they?

Well if they have an all beef one than I will look for them, maybe some store around here might carry them. Also there are quite a few people in my family who will try anything once :D (except my DH and my sister).

I had one at the airport in Copenhagen. It was interesting, but I ended up letting DH eat it and praying that SAS gave us a decent meal on the flight home! The Burger King was on the other side of the security area otherwise I would have been there :D

I had heard of them but never had them until last summer when we visited family in Rochester. I think they're a regional thing. I'm not a big hot dog eater but I did try them and they were good. I little spicy which I like. Our Wegmans now carries them. I guess because they're based in Rochester.

I used to eat red hotdogs at my Grandparents house in Nebraska all the time when I was younger. They are still my favorite. I can't find them around here though. Wish I could order some and have them shipped! ;) :D

We used to get them at gas stations on our way to Florida on family vacations when I was little. Loved them! Those and boiled peanuts always meant vacation to me. :)

If you're talking about the fatter, red-cased hotdogs, in our area they were called "frankfurters" and the smaller, regular hotdogs "wieners." I think they're still around in this area, haven't looked for them lately. :teeth:

I've had those in Denmark and Sweden. YUMMM!!! I wonder if they have any around here?

There is no better hot dog than a red hot dog!

That's all we eat!

Love em!

I just want to point out, when pumba says red, she means RED! The skins on these dogs are dyed a bright, bright red.

I remember seeing them in the grocery store when we lived in Maine, and attending many a barbeque where they were served. I did give one a try, and it's the snap that I didn't like.

Now I don't eat them at all.

I cannot eat a hotdog that snaps (ironically which is how the fresh hot dogs are). There's something about casings that snap which gives me the willies.

we have those in Indiana too, I will usually cook them with sour kraut when we have them!
