Brother's surgery ** UPDATE ** 4/20 page 3

I am saying my prayers and I am sending lot's and lot's of "Pixie Dust":wizard:

You got it Christine! He's in my thoughts and prayers.

****** update ******

I jsut got home from the hospital. David is in recovery, the surgery took a little longer than expected because they found a tear in his cartlidge also so that was repaired.

HIs GF and I left him as they wheeled him in at 11:15 and he was in recovery close to 4:00. The doctor called us at 3:30 to say he was done - he has titanium screws in his knew and a pain pump is in the wound also. They said though he could come home tonight if he wants. He was pretty doped up when we left him and he was sleeping. He is in pain though, they have him on morphine and 2 other drugs...will get the max strength percocets to take home.

Thank you for the good thoughts guys, I appreciate it more than you know. :)

Oh and his surgeon is a sports doctor and he does alot of these surgeries on baseball players so we knew he was in good hands.

Another update.....

just called him and he is home....watching the Yankees game and the Lightening game between doozing off.

He says his knee is throbbing but he is at least home and somewhat comfortable (??) He still sounds all drugged up, poor thing. He was released sometime around 8:00.

LOL, he has not lost since sense of humor, told him I would come see him tomorrow and he said well I will be here, same place, same time - all the time. what a nut. :)

That is such wonderful news, Christine. I am so glad everything went well for David and I hope he has a speedy recover.:wizard:

Glad to hear all is well, my friend.;) Good thoughts on a speedy recovery! :wave2:

Great news, Christine!

My mother had major surgery on both of her knees while she was in her 70s and she recovered with no problem at all. The Physical Therapy is a nuisance but it's necessary!

God bless you both!

Go YANKEES! :bounce:

Thought I would update you on the latest. He went to his doctor for a check up on the incision and to get the pain pump removed.

David said there was about 3 inches of the tub in the wound (connected to the piump) and it hurt when it was taken out and bled a bit. However the doctor said the incisions are healing nicely, better than most he sees.

The doctor gave him pictures of his torn ACL before the surgery and after, same for the torn cartlidge. I can only imagine how graphic those were!

They took X-rays, guess to check the location of the screws in his bone and he got to see them.

Overall the doctor is happy so far, he is to start putting some weight on that leg with the help of his crutches and by next Friday he wants him down to one crutch.

Couple of the stitches will come out next Monday.

THank you all again for all of the well wishes for David. He told me to thank you all. :)

I'm so glad he had an easy time with the surgery and is back home again.
