I've never had it before, and it stinks! How long does it usually take before you feel like you can breathe normally again? I hate feeling like I'm suffacating. I know I'm really not, but it gives me the creeps. My doctor has put me on an inhalor. I guess this is one of those thing an antibiotic won't work for. I am so tired too! I have been off for 2 days, but I will try to work tomorrow. Any tips on how to feel more normal? Thanks for letting me whine! :teeth:

I'm sure it depends on your body. For me it takes about 2 weeks. Hopefully it will not take so long for you. I've had it so many times and get it every year so that is part of the reason mine sticks around so long.

Drink something hot, like tea, and tons of it.

I have a cough that is strangling me. I cannot take a deep breath w/out coughing. I hate it.

Sorry but I finished my post before I really meant to.

Make sure you are getting plenty of rest and not pushing yourself too hard. Hope you feel 100% better REAL soon!

I have gotten bronchitis about 2-3 times a year since I was a baby. Every cold I get, no matter how minor, turns into bronchitis (bronchular asthma) I HATE it. I dread getting a cold. The coughing is just the worst. Nothing you can really do except let it run it's course ,and take whatever meds the Dr. prescribes to you. My cough usually lingers for about 3-4 weeks before completly going away. I find the best cough medicine for it is Nyquil, this has worked better for me than any prescription cough medicine the Dr. has put me on.
Hope you feel better soon!

My DD1.5 is like JenDaveBrendan. If DD gets a cold, there's a 50% chance that it will turn into bronchitis. Use your inhaler and get lots of rest. With DD, I just start her on albuterol breathing treatments anytime she gets a cold.

Maxiesmom, I hope you feel better real soon!

I haven't had bronchitis in over 2 years, thank God. It is very debilitating. It can last for weeks. You need rest and lots of it. You need to take the medicine your doctor gives you and drink warm liquids. I know this is a working world, but you really need time at home to recover.

I had a bad cold that progressed to bronchitis about 4 years ago. I went to work after a day or two home, thinking the place couldn't make it without me. I pushed and pushed myself and guess what I ended up with? Pneumonia. And then I missed A MONTH of work.

Take care of yourself. :grouphug:

Just been through this for the very first time and not something I'm in a hurry to repeat. Took me all up 3 weeks...still have the occasional coughing fit, but it's nothing like it was and this is 5 weeks down the track.

REST, REST and more REST.........that is the only thing you can really do......do not try and keep up with life, all you will do is wear yourself out and prolong the bronchitis.

Rest and sleep......get some good books to read and just relax.....I did this and it still took 3 weeks.

Take care and hope you feel better soon

my sister has broncitis, she had it since she was a baby/ I remember we always had to have a vaporizer in the bedroom at night because she would cough and choke all night. She is 21 now and I talked to her today and she sounded awful, her broncitis flared up again, so she has had it for many years.

I am in week 2 of Bronchitis. I woke up at 3 o'clock this morning having a coughing fit that was unbelievable. This is the 2nd year in a row that I have gotten it. Im just so tired of being tired, and these coughing fits are driving me crazy!! :faint:
