We always go there when we vacation in VT in the summer. It's a lot of fun for a day - well not a whole day, but a few hours anyway. I don't remember about it being that expensive - you could buy a wristband the last time we were there (2008 I think).

Are you staying in Manchester? We usually stay in Stratton for a week every few summers - wish I was going this year but we're not. Send me a PM and I'll see what I can think of in the meantime to tell you to do. I love Vermont!

My dh and I were just up that way, although we didn't go to Bromley this trip. I did get a brochure, and I thought the prices were not that bad. The alpine slide there is way better that the one at Attitash in NH. We have always had fun there. Now they have ziplines. I'd love to try that sometime! Have fun.

Jamaics State Park is close (within a 1/2 hour.) It is pretty cheap for a day pass (I think maybe $3 a person or something) and they have some great hiking trails that are pretty easy. They also have swimiing in the West River. It is really nice there.

Hildene in Manchester is a nice place to visit. It is the family home of the Lincoln family (Robert Todd Lincoln, son of Abe). Beautiful vistas and a gorgeous formal garden out back.

The Outlets in Manchester are widely spaced throughout the town. Not easy to walk around and shop.

I would suggest taking a look at Restaurant.com. They have some places on the site within the area. We went to the Manchester Bar and Grille on Depot St. I was a little afraid when we first walked in, because it look like a dive, but the food was really good. There were other places on the listing as well.
