Broken Mickey Mouse Watch!

I'm hoping someone can give me some advise on this.

My sister, who lives out of state, bought a beautiful Mickey watch at DTD WOD, just over a year ago. It started slowing down and stopping and starting, so she changed the battery, which didn't help the problem. She was told that jewelers won't work on Disney watches. As a matter of fact, they were reluctant to even change the battery! She had to sign a release in order for them to agree to do it!

I live in FL and as an AP holder, I visit WDW frequently. I have the watch in my possession and plan to bring it back to WOD on my next visit.

Does anybody have any experience with getting Disney watches repaired or replaced? And no, we don't have the receipt.

Thanks for any advise on this! :wave2:

Have her find a watch shop. There's one in downtown Chicago that worked on a Mickey pocket watch for me so I know it can be done. It was about 15 years old and the gentlemen told me he couldn't make any promises but he would try (and I had to pay either way). I was thrilled when he got it to work.

Okay, thanks Figment2.
I don't really know if she went to a jewelry shop or an actual watch shop. I will try a watch shop to see if they can work on it. I'm on a mission, because I know how much she loves the watch.
I appreciate the suggestion! :)

I get my Disney watches fixed up all the time at a local watch repair place. No problem with it at all. No reason why Disney watches can't be worked on by repair places. They're just watches. It's not like the jeweler is altering the image on the watch or anything.
