So we are due to fly to WDW 2 weeks today but 6 days ago my 7yr old broke her leg. She is in a full leg cast, bent at the knee. Its likely we have to go whether we want to or not so we are now looking at what she can do. can anyone advise on what rides she might be able to get on and which she should avoid? anyone been to disney with a broken leg that can offer any advice at all?

Step 1 - Don't Panic. There's plenty of magic in WDW for the less than ambulatory (LTA).

You're gonna need to put wheels on your kid though. Even if she's great with crutches, WDW is an endurance race she will lose. If it were my kid, I would have her in something motorized, but ... renting an ecv for a minor is a huge hassle. Most places just won't do it. For that matter, your 7 yr old might be a horrible driver anyway. Power assisted wheel chairs, that help push the wheelchair as it's being controlled by a human assistant are a thing, but I haven't seen them for rent. I haven't looked either so maybe that's an option. Or just find a good light wheelchair and push the kid. The standard industrial wheelchairs you get in the park are on the heavy side and probably bigger than you need.

Now, go take a look at This Website. It's Disney's list of rides and their mobility access. The first category is "May Remain in Wheelchair/ECV" and means you just roll your kid onto the ride or through the attraction without her having to leave her seat.

For the rest of the rides she's going to have to move from her chair to the ride vehicle so how much of it she will be able to do depends on her, but there are an awful lot of shows and activities throughout all of the parks and I would be surprised if she didn't have a great time despite whatever restrictions she faces.

As an added observation... cast members fawn over guest with casts. Especially kids.

She will be fine as long as she can get into whatever ride vehicle she wants she will be fine. ( and I really do not see much problems)

Is she still small enough for a stroller if so you can tag it as a wheelchair so you can take it in lines with you or you can get a wheelchair but get a pedi. one that fits her

Thank you for your reply. Yes we already have wheelchair to take with us so that's not an issue. Transfering from WC won't be either, it's just trying to work out if there are any rides she can't do, namely 7 dwarves, slinky dog dash, alien swirling saucers, BTM, Splash mountain, space mountian, frozen. We've been before but either they weren't open, or she was too small and i was pregnant so have no idea what they're like! Things like TOT, Aerosmith etc won't matter but ot sure how risky those others would be or not (and if the leg room was ok). I ort of need to know in advance as don't want to waste her fast passes if he can't ride them.

7 dwarves, there is a step to get in but she should be fine.
slinky dog dash, there is more legroom then 7DMT but she should be fine on both
alien swirling saucers, bench set with a set belt
BTM, bench set with a step down
Splash mountain, same as BTM but you can get wet so you might want to but a bag on the cast
space mountian, this might be the one ride that could be a problem but she might be able to do it.
frozen. bench set step down

Time is tight, but I would look (quickly) at some YouTube videos to see ride vehicles in action.

BigFatPanda is good - Pammie might be better in this case, as she has great videos that often show the ride vehicles, seats, loading/unloading.

Your biggest hurdle is that bent leg cast. As the mother of a kid who was in bilateral casts from her hips to her toes for a long time, you will have to make sure that the cast is properly supported when she is on a ride to help protect the leg inside so that it doesn't dangle which could lead to swelling and pain, and also that the backside (above the knee, on the back of the thigh) doesn't break down, either internally, externally or both. (much less likely with modern fiberglass casts, but still a possibility)

When renting a wheelchair, try to make sure it will have the ability to support the leg in a position that is comfortable for her. Adult wheelchairs may be too big - again, her leg will dangle uncomfortably, which could also lead to swelling, pain, pressure... all not conducive to healing properly.

If she is small enough, and you can support her properly, you may need to consider a special needs stroller just for this trip. You can get a "stroller as a wheelchair" tag at Guest Relations at the first park you visit.
