Is there another place that I should consider buying tickets for a Broadway show at the last minute other than the TKTS booth in Times Square? Can I just go to the theater itself and buy a ticket? Pros/cons/suggestions? I'm going to be in New York on Thursday.

If I do go to TKTS, when should I go? I see that they open at 3PM, should I be in line before that?

You can buy show tickets online (Ticketmaster, Telecharge, etc.) as well.

There will already be a long line at the TKTS booth before it opens. Note that there is an express line for plays only on the left (as you face the front of the stairs). Get in that one if you're not interested in tickets to a musical. The lines can be tremendously long, but move efficiently. Check out the electronic display of what show tickets are being offered so you know what to ask for.

In my experience, if you want something specific and in advance, go through the show website (some do ticketmaster, some do other things).

The TKTS booth isn't a horrible wait, in my experience. Especially if you don't want something specific. I don't think I've ever waited even an hour, though some people do line up before it opens, I never have. I generally have a few shows in mind that I'd like to see and one of those has always been available (though maybe not my first choice).

Many shows have lotteries for last minute tickets but it seems like each theatre does this differently so you'd have to do some research.

Have fun! I suggest Once - it's an amazing show!!

Thank you all for the suggestions! I haven't decided just yet what I am going to do, but now I at least know where to go and what to expect if I decide to see a show.! :flower3:
