Broadway Lunch Ideas, please!

We are taking DD to see Wicked at the Gershwin Theatre on Sunday---shhh, it's her birthday (Sunday!) and it's a surprise!

We are driving to Weehawken and taking the ferry to midtown.

We need a place to go to for lunch. Preferably someplace interesting, but kid friendly, and not too far afield from the theatre.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!!

would love to do Carmine's, but that is just too much food for three people!

two places I have found so far: John's pizza (across from the St James theatre) and Stage Door deli (but that is down by Penn Station) - and, of course Ellen's Stardust (just across Broadway from your theatre.)

Ellen's Stardust for Wicked is closer, and John's Pizza for the St. James are both excellent, you'd enjoy either one. I'd add Juniors next to Shubert Alley (which is convenient to both). Hard to choose between the 3 places, denpends on your mood that day. My preference would be Juniors beacuse of the amount of food they give you at a very reasonable price and the ginormous cup of coffee. Though all 3 can get crowded at matinee times, so plan accordingly. Good luck!!!

I second Juniors! Make sure you save room for the strawberry shortcake or chocolate cake!
Virgil's BBQ is also very yummy if you like BBQ. Very kid friendly and prices are good, too. (Also right in Times Square)

Becco is Lidia Bastianich's (Lidia's Italy on PBS) place in the theater district. They do an AYCE pasta at lunch for under $20 & they have very reasonably prices wine.

My family is still talking about Ellens. I would got here for lunch. I love Virgils but I think Ellens is way more fun!

John's is a great pizza place. They don't have slices, it is a sit down with a small bar, appetizers, whole pizzas, and entrees. Virgils has some really good bbq (I could go for some of their bbq nachos right now!) My mom has been to Becco several times and really likes it. All of these restaurants are short walking distance from your theatre.

Juniors or Ruby Foos if they're open for lunch. I like Becco (don't love it) but wouldn't take young kids.

Just went back and saw your kids are older, they should be fine there.

Carnegies Deli, absolutely. Ellen's Stardust was awful, food and mostly service. (We went twice to give them a second chance) They give New York attitude a new meaning and I love the East code attitude. Family is from there. We walked out before ordering the 2nd time. Maybe just a bad day? But 2?
Have fun at the show. Just saw Wicked 2 weeks ago. I loved it.

I think John's Pizza is a great choice and is great for kids and adults. Don't go to Junior's. It is just a chain and not a very good one, just a convenient one. Yes, I have strong feelings about Junior's!

Ellen's Stardust Diner....very fun! The servers are all aspiring Broadway stars....they take turns singing while you eat. It was very entertaining!!
