As of today BT have relaxed their resrictions on the distance you have to be within from the exchange to get ADSL :teeth:

Following the recent price drops I have now upgraded our connection to 1Mb :bounce: and I am still only paying the same price as I was when I originally subscribed to the 512kb service 2 and a 1/2 years ago :)

I have to wait 2 or 3 days for BT to sort out the admin but then it's zoom zoom zoom....Even faster access to the boards

I'm sure even DW will be impressed by that

Alan.

:boat: You will be faster on the net than a smiley in a boat! :teeth: I think my internet conection is faster than my old s l o w computer! so the advantage of a faster connection is none existant - sigh, will have to buy a supercomputer to take advantage!

We have BT Broadband 512k speed connection......can I just upgrade to 1mb? What's the difference in cost?

Cath:D

Just to add, that the upgrade to a supercomputer will be slightly more expensive SplashMtn...LOL :)

Alan.

:teeth: :teacher: Think ill hav to turn to the abacus soon- itll be the equivalent to a supercomputer after using this for so long! :p

Because I live out in the back end of beyond , Broadband has been just a distant dream for us country yokels ;)

However, BT have announced that we now have enough yokels expressing an interest for them to think about setting up the Broadband link here, hopefully before Christmas :bounce:

What I'm unclear about (okay, one of the things I'm unclear about) is how the pricing structure works. I started out with a BT anytime deal at £15.99 whcih gave me unlimited ISP features including call charges for connection. Then I switched to an ISDN line for the PC with tandem phone line on the BT Together package (I think), still paying £15.99 per month for the internet bit, but our overall phone + ISDN line package costing us more each month than before.

If I can change to Broadband in the future, does anyone have any idea whether that £29.99 would replace just the £15.99 BT Anytime charge, or would it mean I could change from the BT Together package as well?

Clear as mud? ;)

Hi Hilary,

Can't help with your BT question sorry :( but just to say that I live in a yokel area too ;) and we recently got Broadband after lobbying BT - so it does work! Fingers crossed they will sort you out asap m'dear ooo-arr ooo-arr :teeth: :teeth:

Alan - great news for your 1MB- I can't quite justify the extra fiver a month to go to 1MB yet - I'm on the 512k service which I find very fast compared to my old dial up :)

Cheers

Karen (chewing a piece of straw)

ooo-arr ooo-arr
Miffy, it's amazing we yokels can string a sentence together, and here we are, asking for Broadband! :teeth: ::yes::

Alan - does your 1Mb mean you'll have to type faster? ;)

I hope I don't have to type any faster, there are enough errors in the stuff I type at the moment without addding to the problem, LOL :)

The broadband package should replace your BT Together. In essence what you should end up paying is the broadband internet cost along with a standard telephone package cost with a quarterly line rental + call charges.

Alan.

Thanks, Alan. I hope BT hurry up and get the thing up and running here a.s.a.p. :)

Hilary,

I'm a bit tied up at the moment (Ooooh Errrrr missus!) ;)

(just noticed you have a reply :o )

Edited out my reply.

Shaun - talk about leaving me in suspense! ;)
... edited out your reply because you were tied up? ...

I guess I'll never know :teeth:

Sometimes it's best to use your imagination Hilary :teeth:

(I don't think there is an appropriate smilie to match that is there?!)

Sorry - been a bit tied up .....
