Thought it might be useful to let people know that the new ESTA computer systems seem to be actively differentiating between British Subjects and British Citizens.
If your pasport says you are a British subject you will need a visa. I think this was always the case but in the past many people have travelled in ignorance of this on the VWP without any problem.
The new computer systems are flagging this and so to avoid problems on arrival it is wise to get a visa.
