Hi, I was just wondering if any of you british Disers have ever used an ATM machine while staying at Disney and if so what types of card did it take. :confused3 Just in case we need a bit of extra money while we're away. It's pay day about a week after we leave! BooHoo!:sad2:

Oh and can anyone tell me where the ATM/Cash machines are, on property or in parks.

Thanks in advance xxx

Hi,
We stayed at P O Riverside.not sure where you'll b, but i think most of dis hotels have cashpoints in the hotel lobbys. They tend to be scattered all round the parks as well. One thing i will say is you do get charged every time you use them (only a couple of pound, but it soon adds up!), so if possible, i would try and take as much cash out as you can to save this. Also i found that it didn't show an up to date balance of my account, so you might want to take a note each time you withdraw money, just incase you lose track!!! I think they tend to accept most cards, i never had any trouble that way
Have fun, i'm so jelaous of all you upcoming brides!!!:lmao:

Hiya!

There are ATM's pretty much everywhere, but most cards charge for using them to withdraw cash and it soon adds up... Its probably more economic to use your delta or swtich facility and actually pay for the goods WITH the card rather than drawing cash on the card. If possible, try opening a Nationwide Flex account before you go. The don't charge for card use abroad and they will give you the business exchange rate rather than the tourist rate!

One thing that I want to mention...

A few years ago while I was staying at the Grand Floridian, the ATM machine was down. I had my checkbook with me (I live here in the States), so I went to the Front Desk and asked them how much money I could write that check for as I needed cash for tips & such for the rest of the week. I don't remember what the amount was that they told me, but they gave me an option to put that dollar amount on my credit card instead as a charge. Kind of like a cash advance without the cash advance charge is how I think it was going to work out. I didn't take them up on their kind offer as cashing a check was perfectly fine with me, but it was nice to know that option existed had I not had my checkbook with me.

I don't know if that option still exists today, but I thought I would mention it anyway.

We always use an ATM. We have our hoilday money in a basic nationwide account. We have never been charged as nationwide don't charge you! There is an ATM at every resort!

Thanks for your help, everyone, It's good 2 know u can get advice from experienced ppl when u need it!

Apparently Nationwide are very strict with their criteria re opening an account. My friend applied with them a couple of years ago and was turned down, and they said she must have bad credit. She was convinced she hadn't and when she checked it out she had been late paying her catalogue twice.

Just to let people know :thumbsup2
