Quote from BA's Website on the new baggage allowance

http://www.britishairways.com/travel/bgpolicy/public/en_gb

"*World Traveller customers travelling / connecting to or from the US, Canada, Caribbean, Nigeria, Brazil and Mexico will continue to be allowed two checked bags in line with the local government regulations.

^To allow our customers to become familiar with our new baggage policy and weight limitations, we will continue to accept bags at check-in weighing up to 32kgs for travel completed by 30 September 2007."

I.E if you are travelling to the States you can still take 2 bags per person.

1x23kg bag:scared1: That more or less rules BA out for us unless the flight cost is very low. We go for upto 25 nights, no way is 23kg enough.
What is happening at BA? has Virgin infiltrated their management. Richard must be rubbing his hands and smiling at the moment.
Trouble is because all the problems and changes at BA Virgin dont have to try as hard with their service.

I posted this on the other thread too - it's not so bad if you are flying to the US....

In fact, if you check the BA website, flights to the US (as well as some other places) are not affected, and in economy, you can still carry 2 bags of 23kgs or less (they will allow up to 32kgs until September to allow passengers to get used to the new regime).

I don't think this is just BA - some of the US carriers have already introduced similar policies. We were stung by Delta in Nov 05 with a policy that changed while we were away, and never knew about until we turned up for our return flight.

Its my understanding and the way that the BA press realese is spun that they would like to charge for more than one bag, but its the American local rules which dictate two pieces each.
Naughty Willy Walsh!

GOSH that's a huge drop in weight - I didn't realise it was going to be quite so much. One pair of shoes then!
Luckily DD is 5 and so all her things fit in with my suit case but we still take a third for her and fill it with our goodies.
