Wondering if anyone has tried using the Brita water bottles w/ the new individual Crystal Light packets. Wondering how fast that cloggs the filter compared to just drinking plain water?

The Brita filters are designed to filter out large molecules and minerals like iron and sulfur. It will also filter out Crystal Light to the point where it will taste like water. It won't necessarily "clog" the filter, but it would defeat the purpose of putting the Crystal Light in there in the first place.

Got mine at Walmart as well. In the section where the screw on tap filters are sold.

I saw in another thread there that they were being discontinued, so I made sure to buy enough filters for LOTS of trips to WDW. Hubby doesn't like the water, so mostly I bought this for him. I have no problem drinking from the fountains and my sons think its fun :)

The filter will then taste like watered down Crystal Light for awhile then too. I did this last summer with the filters and it didn't work well at all. ICK!! I'm going to just bring a regular bottle for my Crystal Light this summer.

Thanks for the heads up. Had a feeling it would be useless to add the packets to the bottles. And I got our bottles at Meijers, but WalMart also had them.

yesterday I was looking at the sporting goods clearance at my Wal-Mart and they have a Coleman filter bottle (green). It was $9 but I'm going to keep watching and if it goes lower than the Britta I will probably get those. I know different stores have different amounts of hunting stuff so you may not be able to find it in yours, but it's worth a look!

If you want to use drink mix in the bottle, just unscrew the spout and remove the filter temporarily. Problem solved. Of course, if the point is to filter the water *AND* use the pre-filtered water to make a powdered drink, then the best thing is to carry an extra plain drinking bottle; squirt from the Brita into it, and you'll have filtered water to mix your drink.

I have other filtered bottles, but they don't accept ice as easily as the Britas. BTW, if you can't find them in stores anymore, they can be found on EBay.

we get cups of ice water from any of the counter service places. Dump it into the Brita bottle then squeeze the water back into the cup, add your powder and presto and ice cold drink. We also carry an extra large mouth bottle (quart size) because it is easier to measure the mix.
