I read about these Brita water bottles...fill 'em up with tap water and it filters out the chlorine and chemicals. Great! But I've been to Target and two different Wal-Marts and I cannot find these suckers.

Has anyone had any luck finding these bad boys?

Where in Walmart did you ck?
I found mine over in hardware with all the different kinds of water filters for kitchen and household etc...not in sporting goods with other water bottles.
I also got 3 on sale at our local "Fred Meyer" also known as "Krogers". At Walmart they were $7 and on sale $5.

Good Hunting

I got ours at Kohl's - if there are any in your area, check in the home section.

I also ended up ordering mine from amazon.com. A little pricier, but still much cheaper than buying bottles of water in the parks.

Target also has them. Ours has them near the water piks.

Wal-Mart never stocks the Brita products where you'd think they ought to be so just ask one of the Wal-Mart employees. Sometimes even they have a hard time finding the Britas. When you do find them, buy a bunch of the filters so you don't have to go searching again for a long time.

I was just at Linen's and Things and they had them marked down to $5.24. They were in the kitchen area of the store with the larger Brita Water Pitchers.

1) How much do you think you have or stand to save using this filter system over bottle water purchased at nearby grocery store? (En route to resorts via airports, our limo will allow us a 15 minute grocery stop for free!)

2) How big is this filter system? I get that it's cup sized. Does it require a holster? How do you carry it? How long does it take to complete the filtering prior to use?

3) I've read some alternative suggestions such as putting ice into water bottles at the resorts and then having it melt into cold water in the parks. Does that mean that the water used in resort ice machines is filtered already?

I'd appreciate some expert opinions and advice on this topic.

Thanks.

Karen

The brita fill & go bottles are the same size as your average water bottle - maybe a little taller. The filter is a small cartridge that fits right inside the cover - no waiting, you just squeeze the water through the filter into your mouth!

In addition to saving money over the grocery stop method -( our bottles get used all the time, and have just come back from their 3rd Disney trip - just get new filters every couple of months of daily use.) - you don't have to carry so much into the parks for your day. In the summer - it is really important to stay hydrated. I hate to bring even a fanny pack into the park with me. I put my Brita bottle on a water bottle strap - put my park pass, etc. and a disposable poncho into my Passporter Pouch(it's like a wallet on a string) , and off I go - no bag checks!!

I tend to fill it with ice at the resort in the am - then top it off with water. At the parks - I get a cup of ice from any of the vendors - no charge! - and then top it off with water from the fountains if I need to. In the summer - that ice melts so fast - I don't need to use the fountain water!!

So - the cost per trip for me is about $2, the cost of a new filter. Water bottles in the parks are $2.50 a piece!! Definitely worth the savings!

I went away on travel for work after I posted. Thank you for everyone who replied.

I was persistent...I checked Target, Walmart, Meijer...I did check where Brita stuff was sold. Finally, the Walmart I've been checking restocked their shelves and I was able to pick up two of them.

I guess persistence finally pays off. It sounds like a great thing to bring to the World.

Thanks again everyone.

Found two last night at Kroger on sale for just over $6. In addition to the obvious perks, I think it's great not to have to carry around 2-3 full water bottles. Less weight and no water dripping in the backpack.

yeah they are very hard to find - I wen to walmart - target - kmart - sears - called brita - walgreens - Some reytailers no longer carry them - If I remember right I finally found them one state away from mine - I was visiting some people in Colorado and went to walmart to get something - while there I stopped by the hardware section....and there they were... lucked out

from what I could tell Brita's distribution channels and product positioning in stores really bites
