Do the Brita's really work to make the water drinkable? I'm a big water drinker and I really don't feel like spending $2.50 a bottle in the park..

TIA

I've been quite pleased with mine, but they are becoming hard to find in stores.

We used one last year and it worked well. The only problem is that it is pretty heavy to carry around when it is full. Definitely helps the taste of the water. I found mine at Wal-mart with all the other water filters and pitchers. You might also check Walgreen's if you have one in your area.

We saved a ton of money with our Brita bottles. I got ours off of eBay (paid $30 for 4 bottles +s&h). I found extra filters in the discount section (by the lightbulbs & plumbling stuff) at Walmart. I will take them with me on every trip. Sbella

Found ours at Super Target about 4 months ago. They also had extra filters for sale.

We took ours in our first trip. This was in December. It wasnt to hot, so we didnt drink much. So it was actually a hastle hauling it around because it was so large. We went in Nov of '05 and just left that at home for this reason. We now will be goin next month.. ...I think I'm going to try it again. I think we will be a bit more thirsty on this trip? The only problem I have is that we like to keep ours in the backpack. And the "pop cap" comes undone for us easily. Well I store my digital in the same backpack.. so we keep the brita in a gallon ziplock. I bought my two bottles and 20 some filters on clearence. Like $4 bucks per bottle... and .60cents for two filters. So good deal either way. I guess it depends on when you will be going and how much water your group will slug down.

We love our Brita water bottle! We use it every trip and it definately helps. We're HUGE water drinkers, to include the toddlers, rarely drink anything else and I it definately tastes better than nasty bottled Dasani I haven't been able to find the filters in a couple of months though. :-( Target, walmart & Farm Fresh (grocery store) all carry the bottles but not the replacement filters in my area. Didn't think about checking drugstores like Walgreens like someone mentions. I'll try that. So in short- LOVE the Brita water bottle, but stock up on filters when you find them.

I bought mine on EBAY also....they are great!!! I wouldn't go the WDW without them! :goodvibes

I little while back I stared a "Water Purifier" thread on Welcome to Dis and this was posted on May 5th

FYI - Just spoke to Brita today and they have discontinued the Brita Sports Bottle. Said there just wasn't enough interest in it. Yikes! I just went on eBay and purchased 5 2-packs of the filters before I can't find any more! :sad2: We'd be lost without this at the World!

I gave up looking for the Brita sports bottle. Today I ordered a Culligan Sports bottle from waterfiltersnet.com. It was the cheapest shipping. I searched all over the net for other sports bottle filters and this was the cheapest. Culligan has three styles. One filter that goes on a normal 1/2 litre water bottle. And two sports bottles. I got the SB-2 the medium size one.

DH is a big water drinker and it has been 7 years since our last trip to WDW and he STILL comments on how he hated the water. So I brought up the sports filter idea and he was all for it.

We've been with them and without them...and we'll never be at WDW without them again! For us, they changed almost undrinkable water to actually fine. I got bottles plus filters first on Ebay, then picked up a few extra filters at my local Kroger and Rite Aid "on clearance" (last year). The bottles are bulky, but not that much bigger that a typical water bottle. You can also leave them empty (or near) until you need to drink, therefore not toting around so much wieght all of the time. Counter service will give you free ice water in a glass or you can refill your bottle at a fountain (the cups are easier than squeezing the big bottles in the fountain, and colder, too). Good luck!

Do they put something in the water to make it taste bad at disneyworld?? I noticed how the water at Ghiradellis water fountain tasted ok - but maybe that's because we'd had some yummy ice cream sundaes! I got some brita water bottles and will try them out in september when we go for free dining..want to save my snack credits for more ice cream and dole whip rather than the water!

OK, guys! You are going to make me finally get off my behind & start selling on ebay! DH & I found *12* of these at our local grocery store last May, right after we got back from Disney. So we kept 2 for ourselves & vowed to sell them on ebay, after we heard y'all rave about them here...we just never did! We used our 2 for our September trip, and they were great!! :thumbsup2 That way, we didn't have to use our snack credits for drinks! Now I just need to list them! UGH!

Nope, that is just Florida water for you.

We used them for our trip. We would pack them with ice before we left our hotel in the morning and they would stay cold until almost lunch in insulated water bottle carrier things (found them at Walmart, zip up around a waterbottle, keeps the sweating to a minimum too). It did really help with the taste of the water.

I found 3 bottles at our CVS as well as filters. Still looking for 2 more as our group of 5 is going in July. Try your local drugstores like CVS, Rite-Aid or Walgreens.

Not sure if I got a good price on it ($9.99), but Boscov's has the Brita sports bottle and I picked one up today. If you're near a Boscov's store, check the Small Appliance dept. to see if they have them, not all stores in the chain have stock.

Not that this changes anything, but water is $1.25 for a small bottle (8oz?), and $2.00 for a large (20oz)
