We are do to leave for WDW in 36 days, the countdown has begun, and I was reading a tip that you should buy a Brita sport water bottle w/built in filter systerm. I heard that they cost about $7 at Wal-mart. Are they worth it? I know the water in Florida seems to have a sulfer taste. If they do work are they compact enough to carry around in your backpack?

Thanks for any help!!

I used a Brita "Sport" Bottle last year and was very pleased with it. It's called "Brita Fill and Go" Water Filtration Bottle. The filter is in the lid, so the water goes through the filter as you drink. They should fit in your back pack. I put mine in an insulated bottle holder that had a strap. It can easily be carried over your shoulder that way and it keeps the water cold.

The Brita bottles work great for filtering out the 'not so great' taste of Florida water. We've used them our last couple of trips and were so glad we had them.

I love my Brita...

I see you are in Akron... go to Marc's. Many of them have them ALOT cheaper. I just bought one for $1.45. So give them a try.

Hey!! I found this same tip prior to our trip earlier this month. I went out and bought one and it worked great!! There are water fountains everywhere and vendors will give you free ice. One tip... Do not put any of the drinks from Ice Station Cool in it. My husband filled it with Vegabetta from there and it is now permanently stained orange. It still works, but looks strange!! Have a great trip.

I have also seen the Brita bottles at Linens and Things and Bed, Bath and Beyond. Thought about getting some for our next trip.

The Brita Bottles are great! We've taken them on our last two trips. The only problem we've experienced was when one of them was stolen from our stroller while we were at Pizza Planet at MGM. With that in mind, maybe we all need to mark ours to deter such an incident.

Our local Dollar Tree just had the holders w/carrying strap in stock for you guessed it.....$1.00 each! They were not very well insulated, but the strap itself was worth a buck!

dchfnp, I hope you took the filter out before putting a flavored drink in the bottle. :D I've seen some posts about people putting flavoring like lemonade powder in their water bottles. You have to take the filter cartridge out if you do that with a brita bottle!!!
We love using the Brita and try to freeze it half full and fill the rest with water so it stays cool longer.

Used one this trip for the first time and enjoyed it! I ditto Aubrey with the freezing thing...water stayed cold much longer.

I'm going to move this over to our Disney Tips forum for you.

What about all the sulpher I hear is in Florida's water. Does it filter that out? I heard if you drink too much and your bodies not use to the sulfer you can get sick (flu like symptoms).

I don't think I'd ever go back to disney without mine!

Not only are the Brita bottles good for adults, but we first took my GD when she was 5 months old and still on formula. You know how these Moms worry about their babies :) :) We would package the right amount of powder in a disposable drop in liner and use the filtered water to make her a bottle. It was wonderful for mixing her cereal, too. Just a minute to warm it up in the FLA sun, and she was eating!

When we went we brought like 2 water bottles (froze) they thawed by the time we got there and took little packs of crsytal light and just re-filed the bottles ( just ask for a glass or two for ice water and they give it free) and make it in the restruant or wherever and that keeps you going all day

I just got my Brita bottle over the weekend. Now I'm wondering where I can pick up a water bottle holder, insulated or not. I don't plan to carry a backpack, so I'd like to clip the bottle to my belt loop. I have the clip, just nothing to connect the bottle to it.

I saw someone found one at the dollar store, so I'll try that. But has anyone had any luck finding them anywhere else? I know that polarbottle.com has some for sale, but by the time I pay for shipping and handling, I've paid more for the strap than for the bottle (!!)

Any suggestions?

Jon
