Brita alternative?

Has anyone found a good alternative now that they've discontinued the Brita? I checked my local CVS, and they don't have any left. I saw a Katadyn/PUR Bottle Adapter online. It says: This Katadyn/PUR Bottle Adpater turns your Nalgene bottle into a portable water filter, eliminating the need for an outlet hose. It is lightweight, durable, and easy to use.

I'm not crazy about those Nalgene bottles, though, because they have such wide mouths!

And here's a completely different question: Do any of you regulars on the Budget Board find you start buying more stuff because everyone posts about all the fabulous bargains they're getting?!!! I don't even use Bath & Body Works or Philosophy, but I've been sorely tempted just because of reading the posts here! Maybe I should go to Bath & Body and look at the $5 stuff for presents. See what I mean?!!!

Here is a great alternative!

I bought the Type A replacement filters that can fit many water bottles and bought a couple of empty water bottles in the summer section of Stop & Shop that came with an insulated cover with a velcro strap to put on my fannypack or you could just buy their water bottle that it fits.

They also have a water bottle very similar to the Brita bottle with the wider opening (for ice).

For anyone living in South or Central NJ and looking for Brita Fill n Go bottles, I just saw them last Wed (6/22) at Boscovs in the Moorestown Mall.
They had a decent supply of them - w/ the USA flag design on them.
They are upstairs in the small appliance section along with things like electric shavers, air cleaners and irons.

Those do look great! And inexpensive compared to other ones I've seen. Now I just have to decide which ones to get. Thanks!

LOVE MY BRITA BOTTLE,DON'T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT.I USE IT ALL THE TIME AND I HAVEN'T EVEN LEFT FOR VACATION. I ESPECIALLY USE IT WHEN I GO OUT TO EAT AND IT MAKES A BIG DIFFENCE IN THE TASTE OF THE WATER. IF YOU CAN FIND ONE GET IT. ITS WORTH THE MONEY.

I AM NEW TO THE BOARD SO PLEASE BARE WITH ME. I AGREE WITH BEATTYFAMILY FOR THE BRITA ALTERNATIVE. I GOT THE 16 OZ AND I LOVE IT BUT ITS TO SMALL FOR AROUND THE HOUSE USE BUT WILL DO GREAT ON VACATION. IT MAKES THE WATER TASTE GREAT ANYWHERE YOU USE IT.PLUS IT WILL FIT BETTER IN MY FANNYPAK WHEN VACATION TIME COMES. TO ME BOTH PRODUCTS WORK.
