also Cuba and the dom rep for anyone wanting a change to florida ( :confused3 )

Good news for us in the Westcountry Carol, thank you for posting this.

Will the nice new cabins be available do you know or are they using non refitted planes? (I am thinking of the ones with the Star Class etc here)

Hello! This is my first post on this site! :woohoo:
As far as I know the new cabins are available. We are going from 5th to 19th May next year and have already booked a villa so I was just interested in flights but they want £625 per person (including children) for flight only!!!
Also the flight times seem to indicate that the flight will be 10 and a half hours long - seems strange to me! Wondering if they're going via somewhere ie Glasgow or Manchester???? :rolleyes2

Hi Sarah and welcome to the Dis

I have looked up flights for summer 07 from Bristol and the flight time is showing as 9 hrs 25 mins though this is in August so May might be different:

Thanks for the welcome! I've been to Florida 4 times so far along with a few visits to DLP and one to Disneyland CA. Haven't been to Florida since 2002 as I was too chicken to take my DD (now 3) on a long haul flight so I can't wait until next year!!! :rotfl:

I took my DD for her first trip at age 3 and it was absolutely magical. Memories I will never forget!

Hi Sarah, see you there next year, we are there may 4th to may 18th!
I took my youngest DD at 5 but last year my brother and his kids came with us and his children were 3 and 4 and had never flown before, no probs at all, they just took it all in their stride!
I was interested in the flights from bristol as we live in south wales, we have been from cardiff twice and prices were always comparable with going from gatwick especially once you have added on parking hotel petrol etc.
Next year we are going from gatwick as thereare 12 of us going it has worked out really really cheap, especially as we are going in term time, I dont usually do this but my DD will be going to Big school! next year so i wont have the opportunity to have a cheapie term time holiday again!

See you there Claire! :Pinkbounc I really can't wait. To be honest I wish we had decided to go this year as I now think Hannah would be fine on the plane but it's too late now!
I've been looking at the flights from Cardiff with MyTravel and Thomsonfly but have been a bit put off by the 28" legroom. However, I read in MyTravel's brochure that they're increasing theirs to 31" this winter. Anyone know what they're like?

hi again sarah, My travel from cardiff wasnt great, in fact the first time we went we had 5 hour delay on way out and 24hr delay on way back! total nightmare! it didnt put us off we went from cardiff the second time. the seats are cramped but the whole flight is a bit of an endurance test anyway, i really dont see the point of paying for upgraded seats when i can spend that money shopping at the other end!
we went last year on 19th may and weather was fantastic, crowds good to , so we are hoping for the same weather and even less crowds next year!
where are you staying? we have booked whole thing through travel city direct and we have 6 bed villa, guaranteed to be no less than twenty mins fron WDW so could be anywhere! although we are expecting it to be along the 192.

I've been told the weather is great then but what are the crowds like - wait times etc?
We're staying in a 4 bed villa at Sunset Lakes which I booked privately - it looks gorgeous!!
You could be along the 192 or maybe US27?

Hi Sarah :wave2:

Have you tried looking at continental flights out of Bristol via New York? We're doing that in November and it's a 2 hour stopover in NYC and then you fly into orlando international (which we prefer over sanford, not so far to drive at the other end!)

Hiya! I have seen these these flights and I think this is probably what we'll go for. We wanted to fly direct really as changing planes with our DD is a bit of a pain - she'll just want to get there!
My brother flew there with Continental at Easter and he said the flights were fine. :Pinkbounc

Hi Sarah, crowds were really quiet last year for the first week but over the weekend of 28th, which is our whitsun and an american holiday that I cant remember queues were dreadful, 120 mins for soarin and test t rack in epcot where as the week before they were a virtual walk on. We wont have any public holidays while we are there so i am hoping it will be really quiet. American schools break up at the end of may early june so hopefully we will miss all that.
what we did see last year was lots of school trips, all wearing the same tshirts, with the details on......blah blah junior high class of 2006 end of year trip! we were really envious, my kids get bristol zoo, not islands of adventure! what a cruel world we live in!!!!!!!!!!!!!

might have given you duff information there as i realised we are away for our mayday, will have a look later to see if americans have may day too! if you know what i mean!

Thanks, Carolfoy!

I haven't been this year yet, but am already thinking of clever ways to persuade DH to go next year! :teeth:

Flying from Bristol instead of traipsing all the way to Gatwick will be useful ammunition.

Hi new here but not new to Disney or Florida i live in Weston-s-Mare and next July flying from Bristol to sanford.

We touch down to refuel but not sure where at the moment.
First choice say that we will not get off the plane but we do touch down hence why it is a 10 hr and something flight.

I can see all planes in and out of Bristol very clearly from my front room and garden so will wave to you all who fly from there :wave2: !!.

First flight out is either the 3rd or 4th feb (i think).

karen :cheer2:

Karen, welcome to the Dis and thank you very much for the info about the flights :thumbsup2

Where are you staying in July? What are you most looking forward to?

We all love Florida & Orlando here, so please jump in and join in when you feel like it :goodvibes

They say 9hrs 25 mins. Are they hoping we won't try to work it our for ourselves? Any flight which leaves on the hour and arrives on the quarter hour, is never going to be anything and 25 minutes. The outbound flight seems to be 11hrs 15mins; the homebound, 8hrs 15 mins.

We briefly considered First Choice in January, but the flight times are way too long for me. We often debate the 'worth' of PE on these boards. I'd gladly pay more for a shorter flight - 747s must be capable of doing the journey in 6 hours, surely?

For those who have never flown from Bristol (and might be considering doing so), the airport isn't actually in Bristol. That's potentially good news or bad, depending on where you live, of course. We live 30 minutes north of Bristol, but the drive to the airport is over an hour. It's actually easier for us to get to Birmingham, which is much further in terms of mileage.

LOL! Yes, I would think Bristol airport is about as far out of Bristol as Sanford is out of Orlando. Unlike Sandord to Orlando, we've found the find-the-airport run to Bristol much trickier ;)

Bristol is a very attractive choice for us (Cardiff would be first), as anything that avoids the drag back from Gatwick has to be a bonus. :thumbsup2 Having said that, I'll gladly hike up to Gatwick for the right price!
