Hi, sorry i have so many cooking questions...I'm a newbie:)

I watch all these cooking shows and every1 brines their turkey's. I have seen a million different brining recipes. It seems like u can add just about everything to a brine. What do all of u add? I saw a bunch of recipes that had apple juice and brown sugar in them which I kinda liked but then i saw a lot of recipes that had herbs in them and were all onions, garlic, herbs etc. which is better? A sweet brine or a brine made of herbs? Can I mix and match? Can I make a brine with apple juice, brown sugar, garlic, onions etc? or would that just be gross:confused3

I think as long as you use salt water -you can do almost anything.
To me the flavors aren't very strong -it still tastes like Turkey.
I use the Alton Brown recipe from food network
Give me a minute and I will find you a link

I'm brining my turkey for the 1st time this year; I've been cooking t-day for 8 years and always used a butterball- I am going to use Alton's recipe this year too-I watched the episode the other night and I can't wait to try it!

I put my turkey in a a cooler of ice water, and mix in salt, Tony's cajun seasoning, and an onion.
