Bringing your own alcohol

Since it is okay to bring your own beer and liquor, how do most people get it on board? We have a luggage cart thing that we could strap the cases of beer and soda directly to. Will we get mean looks, or is it acceptable? It seems like a much safer and easier way, instead of putting it in a suitcase.

We have a collapsible cooler that we are packing, can we use this to carry our snacks and soda off the ship at port for our beach days?

Do you pack snacks to eat in the room? Or do you just call room service?

I'm sure I'll have more questions in the coming months. Only 75 days until our first cruise!

Thanks, Jenny

The soda I brought on board, I simply carried in the grocery bag the store packed it in. I kept it with me, not with the checked luggage at the Port.

I would not recommend bringing food or snacks unless you have an extremely picky eater. There is such a wide variety and huge quantity of food available on the ship, that you can always pickup something at the deck 9 food stands, or call room service. :)

Yes, you may bring your own drinks. I put 12 packs of soda, and beer on a wheeled luggage carrier and wheeled it right on board! I did not get any mean looks, but did have several people ask me if this was allowed and then tell me "I wish I knew, I would have done the same". I figured I saved about enough money on drinks to pay for the families shore excurtion! We still bought a few beverages on board but having drinks in the cabin was VERY handy! We took our collapsible cooler, with drinks, and sandwiches from room service (bring some zip lock bags from home) to the beach with us in St Martin. Have a great time!
PS Booze is cheap on the islands, so if that is your thing bring just enough until you get to the islands.
Have a great trip!

I just got off the Magic yesterday, boo hoo, and we had brought one bottle of wine and a six pack of Barcardi Silver onboard. I had packed it in my carryon and had no problems whatsoever!

This was the best cruise I have taken so far, the 5th DCL. We had a blast. The cruise staff was wonderful!!!!

Just curious how to bring beer and soda if you are flying?I'm so worried that the cans will explode!! Not Good!!!!!!!We're taking the bus from the airport so I'm just guessing I will buy on the ship and take a little vodka in miniatures.Has anyone flown and taken soda or beer in cans? How does it work???? Thanks!!! Only 18 more days!!!!!!!!!

Sunshine - I live in Orlando and have been to the airport MANY times. There are plenty of grocery and liquor stores within a couple of miles of the airport so keep your eyes open. Don't bring anything...You can get all of the same alchohals down here for the same or better prices.

We've taken it by air and had no problems. I packed a heavy sweatshirt on the bottom wrapping a 12 pack in a doubled 2 gal size zip bag, then packing tee-shirts on top. We did have 2 dented cans but no leakers. Have a great time.

When we sailed in January We were not allowed to check our rolling cooler with our other luggage at the port. It had to be a carry on. We had it filled with soda and beer and had no problems. We also saw others just carrying cases of drinks.
