Bringing two I-Pads through customs.

Given they were also considering upping the limit by a fair old whack (well over $1000 <- sorry american keyboard ;) I mean pounds) its reasonable to assume they don't care about general punters.

I personally am condoning it to be honest, since they removed the reclaiming of US sales tax I don't see why we should pay sales tax twice and a completely arbitrary import duty. Especially when we've already paid so much income tax etc.

Sure they can link the item to being bought in the States by a code that will be on it. I may be wrong but I am sure I have read that

Don't you normally have the option to register your product with the brand by using the website once you have bought it?

I can't remember the last time I came through Glasgow (from the US) and the Customs desk was manned, let alone anyone stopping at it!

Well I am not one to play on the wrong side of the rules and I admit that I have never exceeded the allowances so that may be why: I don't remember the last time I even noticed the customs desk. I suppose if I had something to declare I would be looking for it, but still, it was an interesting point.

That's because at Glasgow there isn't really a desk as such! More just a table and never anyone at it, lol. It's just after the Baggage Claim, round the wee corner bit before you come out to the shops/exity bit. If that makes sense! LOL

Oh okay, I know where it is now (or where it is reported to be ). I would never have spotted a table unless I was specifically looking for it. Is it marked?

I can't think if it is or not. I know there's a sign in the baggage hall saying "Customs" and an arrow to go to but whether there's an actual sign at the desk I don't think there is :confused3 But I could be wrong! Like I said, it's not really "marketed" I guess, can't think of the word I'm looking for.

if your under the allowance get them, as for warranty apple worldwide so no problem.
As for going through customs were nervous even when we have bought nothing

Our iPad was taken through security/customs in original packaging, stiil in shrink wrap and hand luggage (back pack). Went through scanner and check point without any problem :)

Reminds me of Lee Evens in one of his stand ups talking about airports and how the dodgy wheels on the luggage trolleys take you straight to customs! :rotfl2:
