Bringing toddler to restaurants, kid food selection question.

Which restaurants are NOT good to take a toddler (2 yr old)? For example, my dh and I would like to try some of the restaurants in the World Showcase, but I'm concerned that some restaurants won't have food that a toddler will eat. She's actually a pretty good eater and not too terribly picky, but that may change by January! Do most restaurants offer the old standbys...grilled cheese, corndogs, chicken nuggets? I know when we went to Boma's they had a kid section on the buffet with these items.

What restaurants should we avoid until she is older and has a more discerning palate?

All WDW restaurants have a kids menu except V&A's and Shula's. At some in addition to the usual kids stuff (grilled cheese, mac n cheese, pb&j, cheeseburgers, chicken fingers/nuggets, etc.) they offer a smaller portion of one of the more popular entrees at that restaurant.

Most of the WS restaurants are kid friendly, I think I'd pass at the Bistro de paris as it's more "formal" and the service leisurely, but pretty much everything else should be good. Alfredo's, Marrakesh, and the Biergarten are all great choices with kids IMHO.

We took our 2 Y.0. , and had absolutely no problems finding things for her to eat. She is very picky, and at that time wasn't a big eater.

One thing we did, was go to buffets. 2, and under are free. It saved $$. I am not a big fan of buffets at home. Refuse to go, actually, but the ones at Disney all were pretty decent. We did the character ones mostly. A great way to see the characters, without standing in line, and hunting through the parks.

We took our 3yo to Teppanyaki in May. She is not a picky eater, but did not do well at this restaurant. The food was cooked in front of us - she did enjoy that. But, the food was grilled vegetables - onions, snow peas (not the typical child's fare), grilled meat (chicken or beef in sauces) and rice. We ended up feeding her again after Illuminations.

On the other hand, Le Cellier and Alfredo's went over very well. Le Cellier had a rather varied kid's menu with great desserts and at Alfredo's, we couldn't go wrong with pasta. (You can order any shape of pasta for a child)

We are strongly considering San Angel Inn for our upcoming trip. They can serve a soft taco with beans and rice, and chips and salsa. Another favorite at our house.

Pretty much all of the restaurants will have childrens entrees...usually, hamburgers, hotdogs, chicken nuggets, spaghetti or mac and cheese. The prices vary with each restaurant.

The Chinese and Japanese restaurants may be your only problems with kids food.

You can check out the menus before you go by visiting www.wdwig.com.

Have a good trip!:)

We ate at Rose and Crown with our 5 year old and 21 month old and it was fine. The server was especially friendly with the boys, and a managet type person also stopped and chatted and played with the kids. I remember our 5 year old had a hot dog and the 21 month old had cheese pizza and the peas from my fish and chip dinner.

Thanks guys!

That makes me feel much better. I especially wanted to try Biergarten. I love German food, but was afraid there wouldn't be anything for my dd. We also are planning on Rose and Crown, but I wasn't too worried about that one with the fish and chips...but my dd's favorite food is pizza! Nice to know they have that too. I need to go check out the menu's too...forgot I could do that. Thanks for everyone's input. Knew I could count on you.

My child is a very picky eater, and if it isn't chicken, a hamburger, or peanut butter and jelly she won't eat it. One thing we found helpful was either letting her eat her meal before we went to a restaurant that we knew she did not want to eat at, or taking her food with us. At several of the resorts we stayed at they had a boxed meal of a pb&j sandwich with fruit and chips and a juice box. We just threw this in the backpack and knew we had a meal for her if she did not want anything in the parks. I know that several of the counter service restaurants in the parks offer this too. She loved Chef's de France, Akershush, Cinderella's Royal Table, Liberty Tree Tavern, and the Sci-Fi Dine In. We did not have any problems at these reataurants. Good Luck!
