Bringing soda & liquor aboard

On my other cruises we packed our soda & liquor in our tagged luggage. Do they go through the luggage? I did a search in the posts and some people suggested taking it in our carry on bag. I never like to do this because I don't want to have to take the chance that it will be confiscated.

Thank You.

Disney won't confiscate your soda or liquor. They are the only cruise line I know that allows you to bring it on board. Anything glass would need to be carried on, but we put some cans in our luggage that we checked.

Thank you. I was just wondering because the literature from them says no coolers and such. I guess they just don't want people to over do it.

We brought on a small cooler with soda and (leftover) food from the drive. No problems at all!

Just make sure your beverages are packed in well sealed bags. One poster stated that another's suitcase had beverages in it that exploded and it leaked into their bags. The airlines do not suggest packing soda in checked luggage due to the change in pressure. Also the density of some food/beverages come up as explosives on the x-ray machine (we were told this by a TSA at the airport).

If you are driving, it should not be as much of an issue. But remember, the baggage handler are anything but gentle with all that luggage.

The three previous cruises we have been on didn't allow you to bring liquor on board. There are some really funny posts on other cruise line forum boards about how people sneak liquor on to the ship.

On guy puts Rum in a mouthwash bottle and food colors it to get it aboard!

Another hides beer cans inside the 24 pack of coke he has and reglues the box shut!

I'm glad Disney isn't so strict.

I called Disney myself to check out whether it was OK and the cast member said, "as long as it's in your carry on, it's OK" when I asked specifically about Rum and Wine.

We plan on taking a small bottle of rum. They now sell plastic "traveller" bottles, so there's less chance of it breaking in your carry-on.

We drove from SC and brought our hard sided cooler on wheels as a carry on. We had absolutley no problem getting on board with it and we put our dirty clothes in it on the way home. Our stateroom host was more than happy to take the cooler and fill it with ice. It worked out great for us.

:sunny: I was at Sam's Club today and they had a soft sided cooler on wheels that was only 24.95 I am thinking aobut putting that in my suitcase in August so that I can bring on soda and water. On the way home I can fill it with Souvenirs or put it back in a suitcase.:boat: :boat:

Now, although I was cruelly treated by the American Airlines staff on my last flight to Orlando I must congratulate the baggage handlers who returned to me unbroken the half dozen raw eggs packed inside my checked (long story) carry-on luggage. So be nice! :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:
