hi we are going on a cruise this summer and i know that customs will confiscate the big shells but what about the little ones you find on the beach

When my DD was playing with a bucket of shells on CC a CM gently reminded her that whatever she was playing with "had to be put back" to preserve the environment.

My son bought some shells back and didn't have a problem. I didn't know it would be a problem. You can't take the shells from cc.

Are there any opportunities to buy shells that are legal to remove from Castaway Cay or elsewhere on the 7-day Western? I have occasionally been to aquariums and such where you could buy shells and the money went to maintaining the facility.

If you happen to be on the Western cruise, there is a shop in Key West that sells all kinds of shells.

I know how tempting it is to see a pretty shell and want to take it home.....I found a couple on the adult beach at Castaway Cay that had the prettiest shades of peach....so I laid them in the sand and took a picture of them. Now I can still look at them whenever I want to.
I have seen people take live creatures back to their staterooms, and often wondered what they did with them at the end of the cruise so that they weren't stopped by customs......did they toss the creature that they killed overboard??
Take absolutely nothing....not only is it the law in most places, it's the right thing to do....
