Bringing our new golf cart-- have a question

we rented a uhaul trailer, and used it. now that we have a toy hauler, we don't need it anymore. I didn't think they had a theft problem.

I have to be honest, I have a hard time believing that Disney has a theft problem. Don't you? I would think they would be on top of stuff like that.

Thanks everyone for the advice on the different locks. :thumbsup2 I will let my DH read this to make sure he locks it up right.

And yes, I believe there could be a theft problem anywhere.

I don't think something can't be stolen from Disney. I am saying I would think they would be pretty quick to get that resolved. Maybe there is and maybe they aren't doing anything about it but that doesn't really sound like Disney to me. :confused3

Anyway, the smart thing would be to always lock up your trailer regardless of where you are. We do. Don't like to take chances.

Here is how we do it.

We pull our rig into overflow lot unload the golf cart go check in and get site number, ride GC back to MH hook up CG trailer to CG hitch, take it to our lot. If lot is ok for us (usually is fine. One time someone was already on our lot) store trailer in back Corner, Go back and get MH. Done.

On the way out I drive the MH to hitch/unhitch area. Wife brings GC and trailer. We hook up trailer, load the GC and leave.

Thanks Jeff. We want to put a hitch on our golf cart too so we can move the trailer around with it. Is your golf cart lifted up or regular height? Did it come with a hitch or did you put it on? Sorry for so many questions. We are just getting ready to do this. Our golf cart is lifted. (I don't even know if that matters or not) We are very new to this.

My cart is not lifted

My hitch came from the local boat store it bolts to the rear bumper (6"wide L bracket style $ 20.00) depending on which side of the L is up gives some height options. I installed it in about 10 minutes. Just make sure you have a good bumper. My bumper is bolted to the frame.

this will give you the basic idea

Thanks so much. I will have dh check that link out.

If you leave your trailer in the parking lot lock it up. In October 2005 our FW neighbor's cart trailer was missing. It took 2 days for them to figure out that it was not stolen. Mistakenly taken by another guest. A same MAKE same COLOR same STATE TAG thing. Fortunately they worked it out. (Swapped after they were home). Both trailers were in the inner (secure lot) not the overflow lot. Make your trailer easy to Identify with stickers, paint or something that stands out.

Thanks Jeff. Good ideas.

How do you get in the inner lot? Or do they now make you go in the overflow?

The inner lot is past the security gate on the right. The overflow lot is the same lot just outside of the gated area. The inner lot can be accessed from inside FW after check in. Most guests park their extra cars or trailers in this lot if there is not room on the site. (1 camping unit & 1 vehicle)

Sounds like where we parked when we checked in since the lines were so long where you can stay in your RV. Security guy directed us there.
Thanks.

Is anyone taking their enclosed trailers back to their sites or are they leaving them in the parking lot? Didn't know if there was any trouble taking an enclosed versus an open back to the site.

Take a look at some of the tripadvisor.com reviews on AllStarResorts...."housekeeping" in that line of resorts is pretty well known for alledgedly stealing cell phones, iPods, and laptops that are left unsecured in the rooms...and thats their employees that the reviewers are accusing. When reported to resort management, they often seem uncaring or doubtful that the guest is telling the truth. But in Disney's defense, if it were locked up, it wouldn't have been stolen...or gone missing.

That is too bad. It is not smart leaving things like that lying around out in the open in your room. Just cause your in The Happiest Place on Earth doesn't mean that bad things don't happen. I just found trailers being stolen in the parking lot a little more hard to believe. Not that I don't think it can happen.
