Hi everyone,
DD is a big milk drinker and we will have milk in our room fridge for when we have breakfast in our room and maybe if we are there for bedtime (not likely!) so when we are at the parks, do we just buy her milk, pour it in the sippy/bottle, and warm it up somewhere (I assume CS places can give out a cup of hot water?)? Initially I thought I could bring a bottle already filled with milk and put it in a small cooler bag with ice but I would be too worried that it could go bad. So what have you guys done?? And what is the easiest???!! Thx! :)

Not sure if you want it to be served cold or warmed up, but we solved this problem last year for DS2 by getting those boxed milks that don't need to be refrigerated (maybe called Parmalat, and Nestle puts out chocolate ones). Toss a couple of those into a diaper bag and you're good to go. I'd say they'd be pretty warm if you're going in the summer, if you wanted them cold, add some ice cubes to the bottle and shake. Otherwise, I'm sure a CM would be happy microwave them, or you could use a water bath in a coffee mug of hot water in your room.

i have attempted to bring milk in the 1st day or 2 but it was way too warm after 2 hours or less. so i started bringing in a sippy cup and buying milk as i needed it. i am not sure but it might have been 1%. i never warmed it so i'm not sure as to the hot water, but my local amusement park will not give warm water, too dangerous they say.

Baby Care center!!!!!
You can buy milk in the parks. The Baby Care centers (1 in each park) can warm up bottles.

:drinking1 DS2 is a BIG milk drinker too. I bring Horizon milk (organic) in the small cartons into the parks for him. They don't need to be refrigerated. You can get them at Costco, Wal-mart and Target. Like mentioned, they DO sell milk throughout the parks.

Have a magical trip! :wizard:

Does anyone know why they dont have to be refridgerated? Doesnt that seem a bit scary?:scared1:

The milk is heated to very high temps to destroy any bacteria, and hermetically sealed, so nothing can grow. It's perfectly safe, though I agree, it's hard to get your head around it.

:thumbsup2 When I use to live in Europe, we always got the milk in the box (non refrigerated). Also, they didn't refrigerate the eggs.

Like mentioned, it is heated. Also, it helps make it last longer than "normal" milk. It tastes just fine. I prefer it cooled (you can put it in your refrigerator if wanted). But, my kids will drink it straight off the shelf, no problem.

Okay! I am sure it is safe, but everytime my husband and I see it, we ask each other, should that be in the fridge?? :rotfl: That is good to know though, and we will probably try it on our upcoming trip.

The eggs I cannot deal with! But I guess because we are just not used to that in the States.

This is what we are planning to do for DS5. He only drinks organic milk because we have behavioral problems with him otherwise. He takes the Hoizon milk boxes for school/summer camp lunches as well. Sometimes we refrigerate, but mostly not. He is fine either way. I also like that there are different options with it. In addition to regular milk, they also have chocolate, vanilla and straberry (that one is a treat because it is hard to locate around here).

I had 2 on bottles on my last trip. It never failed.. when they screamed for one we would not be near a cs that sold it.

Thankfully during that week they wanted to drink it cold since it was so hot. Also some places had larger sizes than others.

I just buy the milk in the parks...seems a pain to try to carry milk around, now if it was juice I would but not milk...

We went to the parks with a little milk drinker about 3 years ago. It was september and it was HOT!!! our cousin decided that she HAD to bring in her own milk and try to keep it in the cooler bag for her 1 year old - well, our cousin doesnt have a sense of smell!! soooooo, aunt wendy had to do the right thing and sniff the milk every time it came out of the cooler bag!!! OOOHHHHHHHH YUCK!!!! It would go bad so quickly!!!! nasty nasty nasty - I think you would do much better with the suggestions above!!! Please save your nose!!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
