We are going to WDW with another family the first week of Sept. We had planned on eating breakfast in the room(a fridge in room) and making sandwiches to take to the park for lunch. I know they are ok with snacks and water at the parks....but what about bringing sandwiches. At the Six Flags park in our city they do not allow meat(lunch meat etc..) but will allow PB&J. Has anyone had an experience with this. TIA

I believe you can bring in anything you want. When they look at your stuff at security, I never had anyone ask what kind of sandwiches I brought. I have done PBJ and ham/cheese sandwiches. I always freeze the ham and cheese overnight, then they are perfect for lunchtime.

Have fun.

Technically the rule is no outside food. Pretty much every security guard will let snacks go through, but be careful with sandwiches....so might not let them in. Make sure you have a small cooler (I think it has to be a soft cooler).

We've brought in sandwiches of all sorts and even Burger King breakfast sandwiches and no one has even blinked twice at this. Perhaps we've just been lucky but we've never had a problem. That said, though, they always look through the diaper bag and say something like "What do you have in here, Oh, just baby stuff and baby food" no matter how much food we have in there so perhaps that is their way of giving us a break when they shouldn't. It definitely helps to have a diaper bag.

You should have no problem. When they were doing the bag checks, they opened a soft sided lunchbox with our sandwiches and drinks, that was in our backpack and said "looks great, what'd you bring for me?". My kids thought the man was serious! LOL! THen he let us go...I think they expect it and it cannot be prevented for a number of reasons and they know that and bend that particular rule.

We brought sandwiches, water & juice boxes in a small soft sided cooler one day last week. No probkems. They didn't look to see what was inside the bread. :)

We are planning on taking Lunchables in. They will stack nicely in the cooler. Do you guys think they will allow that?

I have heard that some carry a cooler in the basket of their stroller. Coolers with wheels are not allowed in the parks.

oh! I didn't pick up on that...robinb is right. Coolers are not allowed in the parks. Unless your referring to the lunch size/soft sided type thing you'd carry a lunch in - that's what we fit in our backpacks and that was acceptable.

I will be bringing in snacks for the family so we don't have to spend so much on food from vendors, etc. We will eat as we walk or sit on benches. I remember a thread similar to this one about 2-3 months ago. The subject got quite heated!! One of the issues that caused contention was people bringing in their own lunches and sitting at tables meant for paying customers of the counter service restaurants. One poster reported paying for her lunch and then not being able to find a seat bc. of families having picnics at the tables. Just thought I'd give a heads up and maybe prevent an all out food fight in WDW. ;)
