The circle next to the shuttle stop is Placa de les Drassanes. Just at the top of the map is Placa del Portal de la Pau, where the Columbus statue is located at the base of the Ramblas. The two streets intersect at the two plazas at about a 45 degree angle. Av. Paral.lel starts at Pl. Drassanes and goes horizontally (if you reference the picture) towards the right to Placa Espanya. The Ramblas starts at the Columbus statue and goes diagonally north and west according to the map and ends at Plaza Catalunya.

You can catch the bus at Pl. Drassanes, but make sure you take the correct bus, as there are six different routes there. #57 and #157 take you to the Plaza. #20, 36, 64, and 91 go somewhere else.

I love maps, but boy, I don't love the bus route map.

I am happy to be easily led....LOL...so if someone could figure out the route via bus - and I can follow you when we meet up after dinner - that would be great.

And I think the bus would be better only because you can 'see stuff' from the bus.
But then again, the train/metro/underground would be quick and accommodate more people...

Do you see why I said I would 'go with the flow' and follow the leader???

Oops, misunderstanding. It was late and I read that icky map and the post wrong. Yes, that horizontal line is that parellel street, but all the stuff I said about catching the train at the ramblas and on is correct and very easy. The shuttle drops you off at the Columbus statue (according to the cruise line), which is in the center of a large round-about, and it's an easy walk to the metro station on the Ramblas. I think everyone should just go buy a map! Off to look for my good one. Sorry for the confusion!:)

I could not agree more. I having been working on the route and my eyes are crossed.

I was going to take the metro, only because I am more comfortable with the subway, but Grayfal has a great ppoint. We would get to see more if we took the bus. So back to the draing board I went. It does appear that we will have to change busses. I just emailed for clrification on the bus numbers. If you have a better map, than the one onn the internet, you may already have the answer. Please let me know. Thanks

Is there a list of the excursions that DISer's are doing? Is there going to be a DIS meet - if so where and when?

Thanks,
Bev

Well, at least you can see each individual line... mine shows EVERY line all at once. What a headache.

Hi,

I am would prefer to have a specific time and date for the room tours - maybe as suggested a couple a day depending on numbers. On the Panama I think someone in a Cat 3 managed to arrange nibbles via concierge, dont mind giving it a go once we are on board.
Also, a specific time means i only have to tidy up once!!

The suggestion we had from Linda was that we started at her room 6654 on the second sea day (which is Thursday 23rd) at 2PM and then do the rooms floor by floor. How does this sound to you? Im assuming that everyone showing rooms wants to look at all the others? Having nibbles would be cool if its possible. Would you be able to arrange that? Maybe we could do your room last as the finale?
What do you think? Its down to you guys giving us your room times so what ever suits you.

I just looked at my map--can't find my good one grrrrr. The shuttle drops you off at the Columbus Statue. It appears as if the nearest Metro stop is on the Ramblas, not far--5 minutes, near the wax museum. The Ramblas is easy to find and easy to ask for. It is where all the life is!

Ann,

Does the shuttle have wheelchair access? I'm trying to find out how to get to Ramblas from the boat.

Linda

For all those flying from JFK on the 17th (we leave 540pm) are we going to have a mini pre DIS meet/party?

Any excurse to party. :welcome: party:

Bev

Hi Bev, so far nothing has been planned. our mini meet might just be at the gate before the flight.

Hi Dee,

thanks for doing the leg work on the magic fountains. It's fine with me if we take the bus or the metro, whichever is easier. don't know how much we'll see at night from the bus.

Your welcome. I hope to have it done this week.

On another topic.

I just received a call from home stating that there is a package there for me. I am hoping, finger crossed, that they lanyards are here. I have to check on the pouches as they should be here as well.

I will post tonight, after the daily chores, of cooking, cleaning and bathing the baby.;)

Is anyone aware of the latest people can check in for this cruise??? My DD may be having a friend join us and her flight wont get in untill 1:35 on Saturday the 18th.....any thoughts???? :confused3 I am very uncomfortable with her flying all the way from Vancouver BC to Barcelona unaccompanied (I know Im not the parent ) and cant imagine her staying in a hotel on her own on the 17th in a foreign country. YIKES.

Since the ship doesn't actually leave Barcelona until around 4 on the 19th, I would think it is safe to get in the afternoon of the 18th. I believe I had read somewhere that someone had called Disney and were told that people can board any time up until when the ship leaves, if necessary.

Oh - my excitement level just went into overdrive. It is so hard to keep focused on what I need to do here before I go. I just want to plan & get ready for the cruise!!

Thanks, Dee for doing this!!

Hi,
I was wonderng how everyone manages jet lag?

I have found that Melatonin works for me. Also, I have no problem sleeping on planes. The time difference from Cali. to Dublin then France/Spain is huge!! And, I don't want to miss anything - however, I am no longer a "spring chicken" and don't do well w/sleep deprivation. (oh, I fondly remember the late nights & still be up and at work early - or maybe not!!) :rotfl2:
Just wondering if anyone has some tips to ease the lag.
