I was wondering if anyone had any success with bringing groceries in a carry on and their experiences.
How much were you able to get with you?
Was it worth the hassle?
What did you bring?
How much did you spend on the groceries you brought with versus how much it would have cost in the park?
Did you still eat in the parks?

Just trying to get a general feel on what my plan of attack should be. I don't want to check a bag but I can if necessary. Thanks!!

Just make sure you check the TSA website of what is allowed in a carry on.

Other than that - I don't think I can help much.

It would seem more practical to buy at local store there or use one of the grocery delivery services if you don't have a car,
as for what allowed as carry on, I don't know

I have done items like jars of peanut butter, crackers, fruit snacks, nuts, muffins and cereals. We have bought fresh bread on arrival and thrived on peanut butter and banana sandwiches in our travels. For Disney, we tend to definitely eat breakfast in our room and maybe sometimes sandwiches back in the room in the evening. I prefer to travel light to the park,so I will generally eat in the park for lunch (which is cheaper anyway). Good Iuck!

You won't be able to bring any liquid or gels that are bigger than 3 oz. in your carry on bag. Those liquids and gels that are smaller than 3 oz. must all fit in one quart-size Ziploc bag.

I've brought some groceries with me but they were very limited. A box of granola bars, ground coffee and coffee filters, and a few oatmeal packets. I also eat most meals in the parks or the resorts. I would never plan to bring enough groceries to cover meals for an entire stay. The groceries were mostly so I could make a quick breakfast in the room.

If your airline doesn't have free checked bags, then you're going to have to pay to send that suitcase down and bring it back. It may not be worth the cost of that checked bag to bring a suitcase of groceries down. You might want to check what it would cost to have them delivered by Garden Grocer or WeGoShop.

I wouldn't pack peanut butter. Especially if you also pack electronics. Peanut butter looks similar to plastic explosives in an X-ray and will most certainly increase your time in security.

Twice now I have brought home (to Ohio) 10 boxes of Publix pancake mix...initially a gag gift to DH (he loved it our last trip down). They looked at me weird, but no issues.

I would throw the PB in the suitcase (did last trip)...as long as you are OK with them checking it. It WAS the first time I received one of those little notes saying that my bag had been inspected. Might been because of the PB, might not.

Peanut butter in your checked bag might cause your bag to be inspected, but it won't affect your wait at all, as it would be inspected after you check your bag and are on your way.

the remainders of a fruit basket made security check thru our carry-ons. the high juice content of many citrus fruits show up as liquid. it was a very minor inconvenience to wait tho.

i agree with the others: order groceries and have them delivered. carry on just some granola bars, crackers, etc for the plane ride with a bit extra.

A jar of peanut butter would not be allowed in a carry on bag.

A jar wouldn't be, but if the individual cups are less than 3.4 oz, you could bring those.

Can you bring multiples or do they just allow 1 cup?
Only whatever you can fit into a 1-quart Ziploc bag. And if the TSA agent feels that it looks suspicious, they can still confiscate it.

Yes, you could bring a few of those, but where is the savings from buying little cups of peanut butter? You certainly could buy a jar in the gift shops or mercantile for less than you would spend on an equal amount of PB from those little cups.

I've packed snacks (granola bars, crackers, etc) but nothing huge and no liquids.

I usually pack one suitcase with nothing but one large case of water minus a few bottles. It maxes out the 50 lb weight limit. Then when coming home I use that suitcase for the souvies. So works out great. I also pack snacks such as granola bars, candy, muffins, etc in the other luggage or carry on (wherever it will fit). I fly Southwest so no extra luggage fees. Though I have been looked at odd by the airline check in people many times for packing water (many times i have to open it and take 1-2 bottles out cause its over weight). Lol.... Also been asked don't they have water in disney? Yeah if you want to pay $2.50 ($3?) PER bottle!...... I do drink a lot of water so that would add up to a lot of $$$!

I had packed a bag of chips and sealed jar of ranch dip. The ranch dip was confiscated. It wasn't liquid ranch, more like the thicker dip that the consistency is similar to mayo. Anyway, I didn't think it would qualify as a liquid but TSA did.

Rule of thumb - if it doesn't hold it's shape outside of the container, it counts as a liquid/gel under the TSA rules.
