Bringing food into the parks?

I can't remember, is this allowable? I think last time we had some granola bars, crackers, bottles of milk for the kids, etc. But do they allow other food, such as fruit in baggies, sandwiches, etc? When we do a character breakfast, we probably won't really want a big lunch, but then would get dinner in the park. So I was thinking just something light for lunch. I didn't know if it's allowed to bring outside food in. Most parks don't allow this, but I couldn't remember if Disney does. Thanks!

Absolutely!! Bring as much food in as you can carry! They do have restrictions that you can't bring in a hard-sided cooler, I think? Here's the link to the FAQ about this: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/faq/parks/restricted-personal-items/

But otherwise, you can bring in whatever you want - we often bring snacks and water bottles!

Yes! We bought a cooler backpack from Target and use it all the time. Since we no longer have a need for a stroller and that wonderful basket underneath we had to come up with a new strategy! LOL

That's a good idea!! We have a 4 & 6 year old so we don't really need a stroller anymore but I was thinking we still might bring it in case the boys get tired. I was thinking the stroller would be a good place for a soft sided cooler, too.

We have a soft sided cooler we hang on the back of our stroller. It is filled with water, soft drinks, juice boxes, fruit, yogurt, cheese sticks and other snacks. It saves a ton of money just on drinks.

Good ideas! That's what I was thinking.....just drinks alone would save a lot of money.

Especially water bottles if you're thinking of it. I didn't think that through my first trip- ended up paying an easy $2.50 a bottle of water. This time, I'm having a case shipped down there.

And you don't even have to ship it. Staples rewards members get free shipping. I have been there and have had Staples ship cases of water directly to the hotel marked hold for guest.

Works like a champ.

Use Mio and the like with free ice water from soda vendors.
$5 footlongs make great lunches and keep well in coolers if you leave off wet ingredients.

I would still probably bring a stroller, particularly for the 4 year old. It's a LOT of walking and my 4 year olds would not have been able to handle it without the stroller this past trip. Plus, it really is nice having the ability to store things - jackets, etc. DH still ends up having to walk around with a backpack, though. We call him BOB - Beast of Burden. LOL

That's very true! We are driving down so I will probably put a couple of cases in the trunk and have those every day.

Haha, great name! Yeah I think we'll probably still bring the stroller. He'll want to be out of it most of the time, but it will be nice if he gets tired, and the best part for us is having a place to store everything, especially now that I know we can bring in food, water, etc. I have a new soft sided cooler that's going to work great.

They will confiscate glass bottles (exceptions for baby food and medicine) and alcoholic beverages at the security check.

No large, hard sided or rolling coolers (yes, sometimes the rolling ones get through)

No plastic straws or cup lids allowed at Animal Kingdom.

For the water bottles, we usually bring in a Gatorade/Powerade type drink (each kid has their own backpack and carries theirs) and when those are finished we refill from the fountains and add a Mio type liquid or Crystal Light packet for flavor. We are day trippers though so a case of water would probably work better OR use reusable bottles each day and save plastic!

We all just have our own refillable water bottles that we fill as we need. These ones are really nice b/c you can carry them easily. I never go anywhere without one:

I don't know if you know anyone who sells Thirty-One. I do not sell it and am no way affiliated with that company, but I bought one of their soft sided rectangular coolers. It is awesome for carrying stuff into the park. It is a little larger than you standard soft sided cooler. It keeps everything really cold. We would put all of food/drinks in there with a frozen bottle of ice water. Most days it would still be frozen at the end of the day in late May. Just an idea if you need a new cooler anyway.
