I was thinking of bring some breakfast items and some snacks itmes in my suitcase. So we will be about to cut down on the cost of snacks in the park.

I was wondering what would be the best Items to put in my suitcase:scratchin ??

Have other people done this?

What works and what doesn't work out.:confused3

Any help would be appericated!:cool1:

Thanks

Hi - I bring a lot of food from home to save money. I even ship stuff to the resort if we are there for a long time.

Depending on what your room is like would change the list...

We usually stay in a 1 bdrm villa so we have a kitchen...
But if you only have a mini fridge and miccrowave... some of my "staples" are:

Pretzels, crackers and peanut butter (the "Jif to go" work perfect)
Applesauce
Canned fruit - fruit cups
Mini bagles (I do send these in my luggage)
- buy Cream cheese at resort, or put peanutbutter on
Almonds (or other nuts...)
Microwave popcorn
Oatmeal
Cereal
Easy Mac - tuna
Laughing cow cheese (to spread on bagles or crackers)
Peperioni slices...or salami
Various snack crackers...
Horizon Milk boxes

I also bring a mini lunch bag sized "cooler" on the plane with carrots, cut green peppers, fresh fruit (cut up) - I pack with ice in a bag, dump the ice before security then refill the ice bag after we pass through security.

Our flight is 2 hours and it keeps everything nice and cool.

Hope this helps.
Have a great trip!

I usually take some granola/fiber or protein bars but that's about it, mostly for the plane. We usually have the dining plan and don't snack a lot. We do buy a box of donuts at the resort gift shop (that's a treat for us) and that is usually two breakfasts and then we usually get a muffin from Main St bakery or France for another breakfast.

Assume you are flying after seeing your location! I would take cereal bars, prepackaged muffins or pastries, poptarts, and small boxes of cereal.I would put all these, except the cereal, into a hard sided plastic container to prevent getting smashed. You can also take fruit cups and juice boxes but I would double bag in zip-locks just to be safe. Might want to compare luggage fees to having a box shipped or using garden grocery delivery.

We drive and take a lot of dry staples b/c we always stay in a condo.

Snacks for going into the parks:
~ slim jims / pepperoni sticks
~ granola bars
~ fruit snacks
~ dried fruit (now that they're older)
~ GORP (Good Old Raisins and Peanuts) - we make our own with dried fruit, nuts, choc or other chips
It helps that my boys are scouts and know how / like to snack on high energy / low weight foods.

For the condo:
~ muffin mixes (and disposable muffin tins)
~ microwave popcorn
~ drink mixes

We normally do grocery shopping first thing (try to drive to Valdosta and arrive in Orlando before lunch), picking up the bulk of what we want to cook.

My list this year for breakfast in the room, and snacks during the day:
- BelVita biscuits
- Cereal bars (work for either breakfast or a snack)
- Little Debbie Crumb cakes
- Cereal (I'll let DD pick out a more sugary one than I normally allow, to make it special - it's vacation after all)
- Shelf-stable milk (carefully packed in case of spillage)
- Beef jerky (I don't eat this, but DD likes it and it gives her a jolt of protein in the morning)
- Trail mix (we like Target's "Monster Mix" because it doesn't melt in the August heat)
- Oreo 6-packs (again, they don't melt)
- Mike and Ikes (daughter's favorite candy - it's a tradition to eat them while we watch a parade)
- Nuts (probably cashews because I love me some cashews!!)

We plan to do breakfast in the room about every other day. The other days we hit the food court so DD can get pancakes or oatmeal. The snacks we carry with us for those "I'm starving" moments while in line when we don't have convenient access to purchase a Disney snack. But I love my Mickey cookies and ice cream of any kind, though, so when we have access we definitely indulge in those ;) We eat healthy the rest of the year, vacation is the one time I throw that all out the window LOL

Lots of great suggestions so far - a few I didn't see mentioned:

Not exactly healthy, but we have good luck with Pringles since they come in a "can" - they don't get crushed, you can easily close them back up and they don't take up too much space.

We also like Pirate's Booty and popcorn in a bag (Skinny Pop is REALLY good).

Have a nice trip!

And those smaller Pringles cans make great containers for other items after you finish the Pringles. My backpacking family members use them to hold crackers for Baby-Bel, pepperoni and crackers on the trail. When we went to Egypt in 2010, we brought breakable Christmas ornaments home in a Pringles container (yes, Pringles are world-wide). Just something to think about...
