Forgive the naive question, but my wife and I have never been to US or IOA (at least in a long time). Can we bring food or drinks into the park? If not, any suggestions on how to keep the costs down on food & drink while in the parks? (ie. refillable soda cups sold?, or putting granola bars in our pockets). Anyone have past experience with these same thoughts?

Although the signs as you walk in say no outside food or drinks we brought food and water this past january with no problems. That's even with security inspecting the bags. They did not care or even mention it.

Just give the security guard a snack from your stash and they'll look the other way.

But seriously, you can bring outside things into the park. They'd prefer you didn't, but are understanding. There are refillable mugs you can get that are good-for-life and sell for under $10. You can get refills for under $2 with soda or free ice water at almost anywhere in the parks!

We buy the red refillable cups for $6.99 + tax and refills cost 69cents +tax, and bring them back everytime you go.or why not just ask for a cup of iced water for free.

They won't let you bring coolers in, but snacks in your pockets or bags are fine. The refillable mug has already been mentioned, and is a good deal. A lot of people buy one and share it. If you have a particular type of drink you MUST have (like, for a picky kid who won't drink anything but Propel :headache:) you can bring it bottled in your bag.

note to self:

if i ever meet the tutu, bring propel with or the kid will scream.....

I've heard of people bringing in small, soft sided coolers.

I just got back from Universal/IOA and we broght a small soft cooler in with 4-6 bottles of water in it with no questions asked. We also carried snacks in a ziploc bag in our backpack - no problems. Water there is $2.50 per bottle. They do have drink refill cups which appear to be a deal. It was very hot so we drank alot of water and feel we have alot of money by taking it in. Hope this helps. I did see someone try to take a rolling cooler in and they rejected that.
