We want to send some nonperishables to BWV when we go...should be send thru UPS or just pack a box and bring it with us to the airport...does anyone have suggestions...it looks like to ship should be about $30, why not pack a box?

You need to check with your airlines. Some are charging $25 for the extra box. You might want to look into a car rental for one day.

Maybe you can fit your stuff into the suitcases you're already using??? If not, maybe you want to look at ordering thru garden grocer or wegoshop instead of shipping ahead, then you'd be able to get non-perishables as well.

I should have stated that we are flying Southwest, which still allows two checked bags per person at no extra charge (as long as not over 50lbs). We have been going back and forth on what to do?:confused3

We always ship a box down. It is a big box filled with food, drinks, toiletries and more. We ship it UPS ground with tracking from NY and it has never cost me more than $20!! I can track when it arrives and who signed for it which is great! We never rent a car and don't want to take time away from Disney to go offsite food shopping. Also, we are a carry on only family so the less I have to deal with at the airport the better!

We bought a hard shell suitcase from Costco. It works great for bringing all types of stuff down also great for bringing back the Disney purchases. :thumbsup2

We packed all our food in a suitcase and ordered cold items through dvcmember.com. Last time around, we shipped the non-perishables, but this worked out just as well (and there were not those pesky shipping fees).

We pack our non-perishables in a carry-on sized rolling bag and check it at the airport. Then we use it to carry home any souvenirs we've bought during the trip (since we've eaten most/all of the food!). We also fly Southwest and with 5 of us we're allowed 10 checked bags to which we never even come close!

Unless you have regional favorites that you can't get in FL, why not just hit the Publix or Winn Dixie when you get there? I bet you could get a cab or rent a car for one day cheaper than you'd pay to send them down. Plus you could get your own perishables as well.
